I headed to the gun range yesterday, July 2, 2019 to conduct load development from the 270 Win. and the 7x57 Mauser. The the 270 Win. loved almost every powder load sent down to the 100 yard range. Most groups were between 1/2" to 3/4", however a few groups stood-out more. Powder used was IMR-4831 and Reloder 16, my fingers were crossed for all powder loads, more particular, Reloder 16. IMR-4831 at 56 grs. had the best group at .181" followed by Reloder 16 with a group of .477"............ I'll be using this load for hunting, for sure.
Next trip at the range is continued load development and to chronograph bullet velocity. My realistic objective is to combine sub 1/2" MOA accompanied with a velocity of more than 3,300 fps, utilizing the 130 gr. Nosler Accubond.

Aggressive goal. But why not try. Only thing to lose is primer pockets. Wear shooting glasses, speaking from experience here.:cool:

Not aggressive, so far. I'm only .3 of a grain below maximum load, with no signs of pressure. I thought for sure that I would have a pressure spike before I arrived at max load,(short throat chamber) however to no avail. I'll be using Reloder 16 to achieve my goal, but must try something else that I have in mind.

Oh yes, I'll take photo's of the velocity off the chrony, it will be interesting. Alliant reloading data site has Reloder 16, 54 gr.+ 130 gr. SP bullet, 24" barrel= 3,221 fps. My load charge is Reloder 16, 55gr+130 gr. NAB+27" barrel=?,??? fps.

It all depends on your bullet, powder, primer and barrel length. I'm only going by theory from what Alliant states in their load data, plus my barrel length. Alliant probably conducts their data at a different sea level than what is here in southern Alberta, therefore a discrepancy in velocities.

Sea level IS sea level.
 
High altitude shooting conditions would effect retained downrange velocity but not muzzle velocity

27" barrel will help. You should be in the 3260 fps range at least. Bryan Litz has pegged the BC of the 130gr Accubond @ only .387, so it needs all the help it can get
 
Looks like it's easy to load for.

Like a creedmoor. Only bigger.
