Took the calls out this morning.
1.6KM walk into the stand...UPHILL dragging my gear on a $20 CT cheap sled that I bought, left my butt pad at home

, got about 1/2-3/4 of the way to the stand when I realised I had forgotten my monopod rest in the truck

Started with the closed reed Jack call mixed with a few of the "Rabid Rabbit" open reed call. Followed that up with some more closed and open reed distress with a KiiYii thrown in here and there.
Got absolutely NO movement today, so after about a 1/2 hr I decided to give a couple of locator howls but got no responses to those either so either I educated some Coyote's with horrible calling or they just weren't within ear shot today. Stayed for another 1/2 hr to see if anything would come in from afar but no such luck.
I know there are Coyote's in the area because I have howled them previously with the Knight & Hale Mega Howler and got instant response.
I did have one wierd moment on my second set of calling, there was a bit of a ruccus behind me in the trees but I could not see through the thick bush to see what exactly it was. Might have been a lone Coyote as there were fresh tracks leading across the clearing to the trees which leads up to the road (tracks went from my right to my left), the road would have been approx 20-30yds directly behind me as well (turns to the right just up from where I was sitting) which means it could have come down the road and into the trees behind me as the wind was quartering from my left towards me. Kind of freaked me out a bit as my peripheral was all but blocked by my hood and the trees and shrubs, could have come right up behind me and molestered me and I wouldn't have seen it coming.
Or it very well could have been a Squirrel or Bird/s making the ruccus as well, since I couldn't see what it was I am only speculating but still unnerving for my first time making a stand and calling.
