You could get into a entry level set up for about 40-50k but realistically You save yourself down the road if You spend a bit more upfront. For example I'd like to sell my CNC machine and buy a better one and I've only had it for a year but at the time I wasn't fully sure how much it would speed things up for me so I tried to not spend to much and it turned out that I should have spent more.
 
That's often the case isn't it and with technology things change fast. Hopefully the price will drop by the time you "need" to upgrade.
I was speaking with some guys in Kamloops that had a big cabinet shop and they were telling me how the computer would calculate the cutting routine based on costs of material and time to be most efficient. For many things people are now ordering custom online from China. Things are changing fast!

ya the program I am using to generate these cabinets is called Mozaik and it optimizes for best use of the sheets and even stores cut offs in memory to use for the next job.
 
So drywall is up and should be done mudding and painting by next week. I've decided to go with prefinished birch 3/4 plywood for all cabinets and drawers. Doors and drawer fronts will be ordered next week in a shaker style. I was going to go with maple but im not sure what I will do for all the doors and exteriors. Hinges and drawer slides will also be ordered soon aswell and hopefully if all goes well I'll be back reloading by the beginning of March! If anyone has any last tips that haven't already been covered im all ears.
 
You're going more posh than mine. I just made my doors out of the prefinished birch plywood and banded the edges. Same with the drawer fronts. A couple of the larger doors don't fit quite flat as a result but hey, I figured it was a workshop.
 
This is part of my cave I have a wet bar on the other side of the room and my desk couch and tv in other area so it's gotta look top notch: ) when someone comes over they need to know which room is the most important in the house lol

There all getting 150lb low mounted slides. I have never had a problem with these types of slides but if I do decide I need one for serious weight it will get doubled. I have stood in drawers with these slides they are very sturdy
 
Update: Room is now dry walled and painted tbar ceiling is going up and electricians are doing most of there work tomorrow. I did put in a few exhaust fans like someone recommended as well as tons and tons of lights. if I had any windows in my basement I think you would see the light from space. here is my final design for the cabinets with some measurements and notes to show where things are going.



 
The only issue with this is that it'll cost you so much more than your original estimate. Once the wife sees how nice it came out there's no way you'll avoid re-doing the kitchen as a followup act.... :d

You won't regret the massive use of lighting. The work area I've got is not far off yours other than for no pantry closet sized units. I've got a continuous end to end row of 4 foot fluorescent lights in a big L pattern over the working area and it's just right. And the tape on LED lighting under the cabinets does fill in the shadows just marvellously.

Even with that I've found that aging eyes do not see details when looking into dark places with any short of shadowing. So I've got a few LED flashlights dotted around the area for looking down into the darker recesses of the guns. I've even got a couple of the strap on headlights to use now and then when I want the extra light but also need both hands free.

Ain't gettin' old just ducky? :d
 
Well guys unfortunately it took me way longer then I had planned but Im making progress finally. Had some CNC issues that delayed me a couple weeks. The cabinets are in now I will be doing the tops after I get back from a wedding that I am going to. Here are a few pictures. My daughter insisted in being in them.



 
Guess I'd better get my butt in gear and get them 50s put together for ya......................Just built a new loading bench and got my 50 cal press mounted and unpacked some more gear and found the special shell holder for the 50 so I'm all set now.........no more excuses will get 'em out to you Mon.
