The customzed sks on here that looks like an AK is really cool, does anyone here know how to go about getting a wooden stock end installed like that?

Buy once, cry once.

It makes more sense to save up for an actual AK if that's what you really want. An SKS dressed up to be an AK is never going to be more than a money pit that is still an SKS at the end of the day.

You guys... Lol

Both are wood stock, semi-autos that throw .30 cal chunks of metal at the same speed with the same accuracy.

You CANNOT tell me there's $5,000 dollars worth of difference there.

The "buy once cry once" philosophy is typically reserved for situations where the consumer risks over paying (in cash or sweat equity) by buying cheap and having to spend more on it than had he/she purchased the better model in the first place. It absolutely does not apply in this situation where the better gun has literally no difference aside from asthetics and an offensive price tag.

Basically running them side by side, the Valmet is a vastly superior gun in all configurations. The SKS is alright for what it is, but that's like saying a mini-van is ok compared to a nice 4x4... both are good in their own right, just one is significantly better in all ways and has the edge in almost all, aside from weight.

The price tag is high because of our weird laws, but valmets are nonetheless cream of the crop as far as both modern designs and build quality. The Finns didn't mess around when it came to designing a very robust functional rifle, or putting in the effort to get it right.

For those wondering, this was the link. I think the guns he was talking about were at the bottom of the page. Don't know if it counts as competition to dealers so breaking the link.

To make anything vaguely similar to an AK you'd need to fab up a lower to replace the missing wood stock and attach butt stock and handguards to that. Personally I think dressing up an SKS is a waste of time, but hey, whatever tickles your fancy.
