Custom XCR Barrels

Was it from Terra? Cause if it was from her I doubt you could get one now without her being at robarm anymore.

I asked Terra directly, she cleared it with the owner and it was processed through their regular sales department. I think the whole process took 60 days, sometimes patience pays off.

The issue is the bolt face size. The case head of the 7.62x39 and 6.5 Grendel should be the same as they are derived from the same parent case. Thus a 7.62x39 bolt should work for the Grendel case

Headspace is a completely different and largely irrelevant issue here because we are talking about a custom chamber specifically cut to fit the bolt and extension on hand. How can you have headspace problems when the chamber is specifically cut to fit the round using the supplied bolt?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. A commercial AR 7.62X39 bolt is not the same as a AA 6.5Grendel Bolt and are NOT interchangable

Of course in your custom chamber reamer in the XRC will work.....you can make 6.5Grendel brass from 7.62X39 brass in one pass of the sizing die and fireform.

Im pretty sure actually 100% sure its not your secret and its not your product, your talking about a XCR product not yours. FYI you are copying XCR.

Simple question deserves a simple answer, way too funny!!!

I AGREE!! A simple "we would prefer not to divuldge that info" would have sufficed.
We spent some time making up tools specific to do the job, and believe that if Robinson wanted to provide details on their product they would. It is not our place to publish specs on someone elses product.

ATR, that rocks. Any posts of pre and post op groups? Can the XCR ever become a 1 MOA rifle? :) Or is that just a pipe dream?

I've had my XCR for over 2 years now and shot approximately 1500 rounds but never had anything better than 1.5-2.5 MOA on a sandbag (using cheap 55gr UMC). That would be amazing if the accuracy could be improved. Anything else that can be done?

Reload for it! :)

I find it strange that you want your gun to shoot better and then say that you are using the cheapest shells out there. Guns do not (usually) shoot best with the cheapest thing you can find. Try feeding it some good ammo (mine really likes the 55gr Hornady Vmax shells), and you may be surprised by what your factory barrel will do. Of course I am not against getting Rick to put on a better barrel:D, but to take full advantage of that you will want to shoot it with better shells as well.

Any idea how much weight would be saved by making a thin profile 5.56 barrel at the minimum length to keep it non-restricted?

I'd really like to get a thin contour 21" 1-10" twist stainless steel 6mmX45 XCR barrel I just can't justify chopping up one of my barrels to get it yet mine are still basically new...

Anyone have a shot out XCR-L barrel they want to sell for really cheap to help me fund this? :D

I tried heavier match grade (77gr HPBT) but my XCR didn't like it too much, that's why I stuck with the lighter and cheaper stuff. Thanks for the advice though, I'll try to get some lighter reloads from a friend and try them out.

Cheers

Can't remember if this was already posted and not going back to check it out... :)

Can these barrels be fluted? :D

The first custom stainless match grade 6.5 Grendel barrel. :)

It hasn't been shot yet as there are still a few things to be done but it seemed to feed out of the mag no problem when cycling dummies.

This is a non-restricted 18.5" length. The OD behind the gas block is .980" which is considerably heavier than OEM.
