CZ 452 16" American

Not many 452s left and the 453s are gone. They are phasing them out in favour of the 455.

There is a 452 Scout with a 16" barrel listed as a model, maybe that is what was referring to?

I know Clay was waiting for them in May because I was interested in the same unit, haven't heard from him in a while so I assume they never made it. I still want one and will wait to see if they have any success, meantime I have my Varmint and American 22" to play with.

I believe the 452s were discontinued earlier this year, except for the left handed American with a full length barrel. So whatever remaining unsold 16" 452s out there is it, unless you can find a used one. So far I haven't heard plans for a short barrel 455.

Is it the threaded barrel that makes this rifle desirable to you? If not then a hack saw will alter your American to the 16 inch length. FS

Yep. But I'd like to find another one so I can swap barrels with my left handed model. As far as I know there are only 20 16" models in Canada. Does anyone know if more than that were sold?

Have you tried Clay at prophet river firearms? He may be able to find you one.

We had a limited number come in, not even enough to begin to fill our baclist, however, we have many more on order and will contact people as they roll in. Looks like we can fill all orders for a little while longer :)

As far as how many in Canada? We've soild about 75 over the past 3 years....

If ya can buy them with a 16 inch barrel, how does chopping an American to 16 become a prohib? FS

You can't cut any barrel to less than 18.5" or it is manufacturing a prohibited device.

If you have a blank you can make barrels as short as you want.

If you find a manufacturer selling barrels they can be as short as they want.

But YOU may not cut down a barrel to less than 18.5".......

Just another example of our stroopid gun laws.

I have a 452 with threaded 16" bbl. I toppped it with a Leupold VX II EFR rimfire scope. Ive owned alot of high end .22's and this is best one I have ever shot. The factory trigger was a bit heavy but I installed the YoDave Kit and it breaks like a thin sliver of glass. I purchased this one from Clay at Prophet River. I you find one, buy it !!

Cheers!!

Read 'em and weep:

The Criminal Code defines the following firearms as prohibited:
  • automatics, including those that have been converted so that they can only fire one projectile when the trigger is squeezed;
  • handguns with a barrel length of 105 mm or less, and handguns that discharge .25 or .32 calibre ammunition, except for a few specific models used in International Shooting Union competitions;.
  • rifles and shotguns that have been altered so that their barrel length is less than 457 mm (about 18 inches) or their overall length is less than 660 mm (about 26 inches); or
  • any firearm prescribed as prohibited -- These can be found in the fact sheet listing restricted and prohibited firearms.

You cannot cut a barrel to less than 457mm, but it can be manufactured at a shorter length and be perfectly legal. Stupid? Incredibly. But it is the current state of our laws.

Bollix, I did exactly that, have the receiver and barrel of the 452 in the ee. It may be the most accurate I own. Or have shot, including 4 different match euro 22's.
