CZ 452 Lux or American for silhouette?

I have mediums on mine. I also have a dip extended rail so I can use the rings I wanted.

Yup, no need for high rings on any of my 4 CZs either unless I am mounting a VX2 6-18 on my 452 FS and need to clear the sights. I however agree that the bolt rotation has to be considered when choosing a scope/rings combination for your new 452.

CZ rifles always require high rings because of the bolt 70 degrees rotation angle, otherwise the bolt will touch the scope's eye piece.

No they don't... of the dozens of CZ rifles I have owned, I have only had to go to high rings with scopes that required clearance for the objective bell over the rear sight (Lux and FS models)... on the Varmint mediums are perfect and on the American I have used Leupold mediums... which are actually medium-low. This is with Leupold scopes... if you are using a low-end or tactical model with a funky oversized ocular bell, you might have to go higher.

If you would like to try a 452 set up, let me know and we can arrange to take my daughters out to the range. Honestly can't remember which model!

Trying to get my 452, scope and rings all set up before silhouette starts up in the spring. (You may remember me as that guy with the really short barrel 10/22 using bulk ammo from last year :p)

Well, after a wonderfully helpful gentleman at a sponsor store, I'll be getting the 452 American. I'd like to get the Lux, it seems the nicer gun overall, but the American seems more in line with what I'm looking for in a rifle. Thank you all for your advice.

Where from?

Congrats on the great gun.

Now I wish I could get a Boyd's stock for a 452 American. Boyds only makes heavy barrel stocks for the 452, but makes regular barrel channel ones for the 455's. The general consensus that I've seen is that the 455s are inferior firearms to the 452s though.

The barrel will just be very free floated.

I had 2 455's and they were not as good feeling as the 452's to me. Sold both 455's

Haha, yes, VERY free floated! Which might not necessarily be a bad thing? I just do not like the look of that beech stock one bit.

No not really. We all want our barrels free floated. I didn't like the look of beech one bit either but it really grew on me. Mine is bedded and floated with some trigger work all was done when I got it from the EE. It is my best shooting gun.

The American barrel contour looks fine in the Boyd's channel... it is not in any way distracting... why is your 452 American in a beech stock anyway? The standard stock should be walnut...
