Hey guys~I've been thinking I should give my gopher rifle a little TLC. It's served me very well on my gophering vacations...but when it comes to high-volume shooting, 2 things about my rifle could be improved. Trigger, and bolt handle.
I have a Yo Dave kit in my other 452, so I'm thinking I might like to try a Rifle Basix in this one. (452 Varmint) Anyone have experience with with a Rifle Basix in their 452? I've put 2 of them in Marlin bolt guns, and they transform the shooting experience entirely. That good.
The bolt handle..
During fast-paced shooting, I find the short bolt handle on the 452 to be a bit of a pain. Literally. I have big hands, and the natural way to cycle a bolt quickly is to lift/pull back with the outer edge of the palm of your hand, and cycle forward/down with the area at the base of your thumb. No issue there really, but the CCI Blazer my rifle shoots so well is a tight fit in the chamber...so more force is required. x 50 rounds, x 9-10 boxes a day, x 6-7 days. I'd like to think a longer bolt handle with a larger knob might offer some leverage, and perhaps a better fit. Keeping my hand a little further away from the scope~another bonus. Anyone here buy an aftermarket/ready-to-install bolt handle? If so which one, and from where? Photos welcome.
