Just picked up a 455 canadian model for some freehand practice, hunting and whatever other reason to buy another gun lol. im wanting to put a leupold vx2 3-9x40 on it as i have one sitting around. i also have a set of burris sig z rings that would do the trick. ive been reading that guys seem to like this set up, but then i start researching rails and find there are not many to choose from in canada. DIP was one of the first brand of rails that guys seem to be doing this with, they seem to be hard to get in canada. im wondering if anybody has any tips or other set ups they would like to share? im not opposed to getting a set of 22 rings but seeing i have burris rings, the rail seems like a better option. cheers

I ordered a DIP rail from Kinneys in the states. They can ship to Canada without issue.
I ordered the Allen head hardware, & an extended mag release at the same time.

Tip: Place a piece of #6 or #7 lead shot in each of the rails mounting holes.
This will protect your finish from the set screws.

IMOHO The nicest inexpensive upgrade for these rifles is a YoDave trigger kit.

DIP rail is the way to go. Just order it from Kinney's he ships up here. At the same time get the other CZ upgrades ;)

ok now i have another question, they offer the rails in 0 MOA and 25 MOA, i havnt looked passed this but im unsure what one to pic. i want the scope high enough not to interfere with bolt lift but not excessively high. any suggestions on that?

The Bolt lift is good on these. No Issues with a 4-12x40 . Pretty sure I got a 25MOA base, but cant remember since it's been so long.

My vote goes to using a ring designed to fit directly onto the 11mm dovetail on the 455, CZ makes some nice rings and you eliminate the DIP picatinny interface which I'm not too fond of

If you don't want the expense of a picatinny rail and weaver style rings, there are a lot of rings that will work very well with the 11mm dovetail grooves on the rifle. There are many brands to choose from including BKL, Burris, Leupold, Talley, Warne. You can even get solid yet inexpensive rings from Amazon.ca for less than $25 that will not budge.

My 455 has a DIP 25moa tail and I had bolt issues with a Vortex Razor and Viper mounted on medium rings. Other companies with a smaller eye bell should be fine.

Excellent advice !

You want the one that will just clear the bolt they will help you with that..

EGW also sells a rail. Costs more than DIP but it doesn’t use downward pressure( side grub screws tighten) and it’s higher than a DIP rail. They ship to Canada

^I'm inclined to agree. I use WARNE, based on the positive reviews on Rimfire Central. This link won't open on my dinosaur of a computer, but pretty sure they're these ones; https://warnescopemounts.com/product/722m-1-inch-7-322-high-matte-rings/ Because of the bolt throw, I use the HIGH ones...but they're not crazy high...and have worked for me on scopes up to 40mm obj. without issue.

I used BKL (series 257) rings on my CZ 455 Lux 17HMR and I liked them so much that I bought another set for my new CZ 455 22lr build (series 261). If you choose them you won't be disappointed.

I like the Burris Singature 11mm rings that attach directly to the dovetail. You can move the scope back and forth to acccomodate heavy clothing or different shooters and/or take it off completely to use the iron sights. Not sure why I’d put another rail on the built in rail, seems a little redundant to me.

I used those on my American. Cheaper than Burris or any other decent brand, and they are nice quality pieces. You can order directly from their website too.

The only time you really need to use an add on rail is if you want to mount a scope with a 30MM tube. The selection of rings in 30MM that fit the 11MM dove tail are slim to none.
