CZ 457 or Ruger 10/22?

I'm in the mood for a new 22 and can't decide between these two. I kind of like the simplicity of the bolt and stock options of the CZ, especially the Royal for some reason. I also like the semi option of the Ruger and I understand a lot of aftermarket things can be done.

Anyone decided between these two?
Are longer barrels on 22s better?

457 if you wanna practice fundamentals and have a fantastic out of the box bolt action .22

10/22 if you wanna mag dump lol

Both platforms are endlessly customizable and good rifle choices. I would have both in my safe 🙄
Well put !!
Having owned several of each, if I was to do it again, CZ 457 for sure. They respond well to quality ammo.

Here something to consider since your looking for a bolt and a semi auto.

I have a CZ 457 in the At One stock as well as a CZ 512 walnut stock version.

One bolt, one semi auto that take the same magazines.

Had them both at the range today - good times. Can also get 25 round magazines for these rifles.

If I had to choose one first I'd go with the 457 - working the bolt on bags a lot of fun.

lol, I am in the same debate with myself. Especially now that my Kriss Vector SBR is on the prohib list. In reality it will probably be both. I suspect it will be Dlask takedown SBR with some parts from KIDD, Volquartsen or Tandemkross (to replace the Vector). And always wanted a 457 but most likely only the receiver will survive. Most likely a WOOX chassis, upgraded barrel, trigger group, etc. Getting itch to build.

I have a cz 452, and about 4 10/22s taken apart.
My 452 is like super accurate, I take it out when I want to take my time and shoot some great shots
My 10/22s are all frenkeinstiens lol, parts everywhere, different barrel lengths triggers and stocks. Have fun get both

I have both as well. The 457 is a gorgeous rifle with a great trigger and smooth, short turn bolt. But the 10/22 is the thing you tear apart and have fun with. 😃 I bought the cheapest plastic stock model I could find, threw on a mag pull stock and a new trigger and an LVPO scope and it's all sorts of fun. Pick your priority, both are great for different things. But both for fun!

The 457 is the 10/22 of the bolt action world. Lots of aftermarket goodies to customize with, Timney triggers available in Canada. You can turn a ho-hum factory CZ into a very high performing rifle when you get into custom fitted match grade barrels. There's lots of room to grow with a 457.
