hey all, i’m building a new CZ 457. have the action and match barrel. now… the chassis!

i can’t decide between the MDT XRS, KRG Bravo or the Oryx! thoughts? oh, it’ll will be a bench gun exclusively…. kinda leaning towards to oryx, just not sure…

Rimfire PRS is a hoot, so maybe consider what stock might be easier to set up with a long Arca rail, be easy to add weights to balance it, etc.

the main reason i'm leaning toward the Oryx is because it's on solid block of aluminum. i wonder if the KRG and XRS would be as stiff. i know the others have aluminum liners but... i find the oryx the least appealing aesthetically but i want the best for accuracy.

Skip the Oryx. It's not sized properly for the CZ, you will be running very high rings with the cheekpad bottomed out all the way.

Here I am shooting my buddies

The bravo and XRS are also aluminum backbones and extremely stiff. Both allow for upgrades that will get them tailored to fit you and suit you best. The oryx is limited in add ons and it's kind of ugly in my opinion. The bravo has the most aftermarket accessories. I'm a krg fan and have 3 whiskey 3s, and x ray and a Bravo. The aluminum backbone is the same in all of them and all the accessories are cross compatible

I found the XRS to more comfortable for a big hand than Bravo's, but both were high quality. Changeable grips is a good option as well. Have no experience with the Oryx.

Will chassis selection make a barreled action have more accuracy than better ammo selection?

The chassis will ensure free floating of the barrel and allow you to be comfortable on the rifle for repeatability. But with rimfire, ammo plays a large part as well. No point in feeding quality ammo into a rifle with a flimsy stock you can't get comfortable behind

Any reasonable chassis should ensure free floating barrel. Any chassis that doesn't is out of contention. If a shooter finds one more comfortable than another, the choice is easier.

Anyone shooting a CZ shouldn't worry about the stock being "flimsy". With or without a chassis, as far as CZ accuracy goes ammo selection remains most important.

For my 10/22 I was looking at both the bravo and the Oryx. I chose the bravo because it had the mlok slots. I like bravo for my 10/22. For my 457 I got an xrs. It's superior to both the bravo and the Oryx in pretty much every way. I shoot prs though not benchrest so what matters to me might not matter to you.

Hmmmm...

My CZ is in the wooden stock, but I own an Oryx and an XRS in Howa Short Action. For hunting (because less exposed metal and a little lighter) or PRS (ability to easilly add weight) I would say XRS for sure... but I like the Oryx on the bench just fine. They both fit me quite well.

Glad i have both... but in a pinch I would go with XRS as it is more versitile.

One thing to consider is if you want to run a verticle grip on the Oryx you need to buy that seperate and the XRS comes with both pistol and vertical.

Not an easy choice!

Matt
