CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62x39... gem or junk?

Well if the groups shrank when.he switched from barrel mounted irons to a peep sight you don't exactly need to be a detective to figure it out
 
I'm not sure at what point they changed the bolt handle design, but the newer one clears scopes more readily. I don't know if there was ever an overlap of the old-style sights with newer bolt handle, but I've never seen one.
 
Back to the RAR vs. CZ 527 question, is there any difference with steel case ammo performance, e.g. Norinco non-corrosive?

Here's what I heard about the RAR 7.62x39:
1. one anecdote of a RAR 7.62x39 that was having a hard time ejecting the Norinco
2. one warning that the RAR extractor pin (I think?) would wear out after a few thousand rounds with the steel case.

Are these valid concerns? Maybe others are having better experience with the RAR? Are these concerns valid for the CZ?

I've been shooting Chinese surplus corrosive ammo as well as the red box Norinco ammo since I bought my RAR in 2019. No problems whatsoever. Interestingly enough, the Chinese surplus ammo is quite accurate resulting in groups around 2MOA. By the way, the 7.62x39mm cartridge was specifically designed with a taper to allow easy extraction with steel cases.
The extractors always wear out with whatever ammo after some period of time. Chinese red box non corrosive was sticky now and then for me compared to Barnaul in one rifle but not the other.
 
I bought a RAR in x39 last Summer and have fired maybe 2-300 rounds, with all but 20-30 being Chinese MS bulk. NO probs at all, Not sticking in the chamber or ejection hang-ups and the bolt cycles just fine. The trigger pull averages 1#-8oz with No mods - yet. With Barnaul I get sub-MOA and Chinese just a bit bigger but still MOA or better, using a Bushnell 3-9x40 Duplex.
 
The CZ 527 x39 is a gem and I hope you bought it for 880. What a deal. Post some pics. Some of them came with really great looking stocks.
Yes, front sight is pretty junky on the v2 but stock cracking issues were pretty well fixed. Mags are expensive but the ammo is cheap. Go get some warne QD rings and put a LPVO on it and go shooting. I think Wolverine was the CZ warranty center and they have parts.
 
What was the factory synthetic stock for the 527 Carbine like? Rigid? Flimsy? In all the pictures I've seen of it, it has a very rough looking texture which is kind of weird for a synthetic. Is it rubberized or something?

I see the CZ 600 Alpha is now available in 7.62x39 as well. Kind of intriguing, though not sure how I feel about the aluminum receiver.

While I'm not generally a fan of tupperware stocks, I don't mind this one. It is fairly rigid in the forend and seems a wee bit more "grippy" than a std 700 SPS stock for example.

I'm a 6 footer with longer arms and this one fits me fine.

The synthetic 527 is soft to the touch and very good value for the price they were sold new for
 
Yes the CZ plastic stock was decent for an oem entry level....didnt feel overly flimsy or hollow..seemed rigid enuf...not too attractive but thats not what they're for
 
You're missing out. The 527 and 7.62x39 are like peanut butter and jam. A scaled down centrefire cartridge in a scaled down rifle action, perfect match
 
lol, we're free to choose whatever to shoot, hunt, and plink with, I'm with RJ on this, ballistically doesn't offer enough to be attractive to hunters as that's a primary drive in centerfires ownership for many so it doesn't make the list at all, and for volume shooters fun it doesn't get very high on my list either, and actually like RJ it doesn't even make my list for that either, funny to see where this went though, might need some popcorn
