CZ 600 series

It feels like they just came out with the 557, and now theyre discontinuing them? They did the same thing with the 455 when the 457 came out.

They should have skipped the 557 and the 455 models if they were simply going to be replaced so quickly.

Looks to me like they are trying to cut down on production costs. I like the 457's but I will have to wait and see how the new 600 lineup turns out. So far I'm leaning to prefer their old style guns.

No new CZ's for me.

At Present. In a few years, let's see what happens. I remember people decrying the 455 saying the 452 was better and the 455 was crap; I have had both and the 455 is a great rifle, arguably just as good. Wait and see.

It's been 6 years at least.

CZ make great guns, yes they get better but they never put out a gun you won't be happy with for life.

The 557 was a pile of #### compared to the 550 so it's no wonder they dropped it. It's like a pre 64 Model 70 vs a post 64. These new rifles are back to control feed just it's CZ own style of control feed instead of the Mauser control feed. Takes Remington 700 mounts instead of the proprietary mounts. I'll hold off on further judgement until I see one in person but, if it's good, I want either the Range or the Trail in .223rem.

We have already ordered these in most calibers a few weeks ago ,delivery sometime first or second quarter next year is anticipated. We believe these will have a strong following. Phil.

Looking at the CZ600 specs, not sure that these 3x torx screws can hold the consistent accuracy like 6.5prc, 300 win mag...

Barrel: Quick remove and replace design with three Torx fasteners

I said in another thread I liked that CZ had a number of different models for the 600 line, and added that it looked like they were still a manufacturer made up of gun enthusiasts and not bean counters....but I made that comment without seeing the internals :sok2

My sentiments too. Let's see what they produce. We're not talking about the bottom-of-the-barrel crap being churned out by several other manufacturers. CZ has kept the bar high until now. I own/owned several of their models and I have had no major complaints. Yes, their wood finishes were brutal 10+ years ago, and the 550's seemed to suffer from rougher finishing and needed tweaks to get going out-of-the-box. Will we see Brno 21 and ZG-47 level quality and workmanship? Not anymore. But you can still produce a quality, accurate rifle using modern, efficient manufacturing techniques. And, if they are catering to a younger generation, that"s a good thing. There are millions of quality older rifles kicking around to keep us picky old buggers happy until death.

I don't know if I'm willing to wait and see. At this point I'm actually thinking of completely abandon their brand of rifles. I've been waiting for them to get me a single part for literally a year. It's not the warranty centers fault, but rather Cz's inability to keep stock of any parts needed for a repair.

I've not been able to use my rifle for a year because I guess CZ has been spending more time on this horrible 600 project then actually making parts for the hundreds of thousands of rifles all ready in use. If by the end of the year I still don't have a functioning rifle, I'll assume that CZ isn't a brand that stands by it's products, and isn't worth using do to lack of part availability and support.

Who just abandons their top lines like this, other then a poorly managed company. It's like maybe once or twice every 2 or 3 years that we even get the switchable barrels in the country for their rimfire line up. What makes people think they'll actually make any of these new switchable barrels in any numbers worth mentioning. And anyone wanna bet this new improved groundbreaking, cheaper polymer magazine comes to the country in a trickle. You can't find any cz 527 mags for almost the entire year now. Cz was one of my Favorite brands.

With their abandonment of their previous lines, I can no longer trust this company to provide parts or service in a timely manner meaning they can go on the list of other companies I don't need to be doing business with.

Most of their products have been going to the US and EU, I believe.

It took CZ 6 months to send Wolverine Supplies a replacement front sight base for a CZ 557. So, yes, I feel your pain. In the end, there are supply chain shortages everywhere, and of course CZ's complete hunting line retooling is causing big delays. Most of their business is in the EU, a smaller segment in the US and a very small percentage in Canada. CZ is still a great brand, and basically half of my safe are CZ's and older Brno's for a reason. I'll put up with the inconveniences, for now. ;)

Building good quality rifles then discontinuing the popular lineup & poor support for customer service is not a new thing. Browning has been guilty of this too many times with thier rifles. Spare mags? Just forget about it friend.
Ruger in its abandonment of the ROA.

I don't view these as improvements. Every other brand is going this route and I purchased cz rifles specifically because they didn't follow this trend. Of cheaply made polymor mags and new age finishes that aren't blued steel.

I can understand why they would go this route but I won't be buying them. I don't need a threaded barrel, I don't need it to be swappable. I don't need fancy new age finishes outside of blued steel. And I certainly don't want a rifle with polymer magazines.

I realize I like old school rifles and their styling more then new age rifles. But that was the niche CZ occupied. These new rifles no longer occupy that niche. Instead they made a rifle that looks like any other hunting rifle, from any other brand.

I second this

I hear where you're coming from. Ruger, Marlin, Remington, Savage, and a few others will never see the inside of my safe, unless they're vintage. Never owned a Browning. You will be better served with a used CZ or older Brno. The younger generation seem to gravitate more towards gimmicks and features and what we call "soulless", but if it keeps them interested, it assures a future for gun ownership. Personally, there are very few modern rifles I covet, but there are several that work very well for me--I call them tools. I will await the next crop of CZ's before I pass judgement.

My friend this continues in Europe with Umarex absorbing Hammerli, Sig, Mauser, etc.
An air rifle company dragging old established gunmakers through the mud.
