CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow Line vs HK P30L vs ?

I was lucky enough to try as many as 10 different pistols at DVC the first time I went. It was even on a Wednesday but I went at around 8:30 at night.

After trying everything from P30, to PPQ, and CZs and 1911s, I ended up buying a M&P 9 range kit last december during Italian Sporting Good's annual sale. I have no complains about it. and ever since I dropped in a DCAEK, even better :) Maybe you should consider the m&p.

I did later gave in and bought a Shadow Line SP01 from CRAFM (great service). Yet to have any free time to try it out tho :(

P30L, best ergonomics and feel in your hand of any pistol that I've felt yet. I am in the same market as you and I am 99% sure I am getting the P30. My second choice was going to be the P226. From everything I've read you cant beat the HK reliability so finding parts shouldn't be a problem as they rarely break. Once you get one in your hand you will melt and want to buy it right away. The only thing that is meh about the gun is the trigger, but apparently you get used to it and there are a lot of pistols with crap triggers so oh well.

cheap easy to find replacement parts vs. hard to find replacement parts just like the cars :D

I do love the look and feel of HK guns tho.

They are both easy to find parts if you know where to look, and if you are proactive with it. You can get a decent competition gun or you can get a top drawer combat pistol. It's your call. My wallet has already spoken.

I really do like HK guns, always have. I guess I just can't justify paying that much for a poly pistol, at least for now. :)
Also my hands are small, the mag release lever isn't as nice to use as a conventional mag release button for me.

I'm pretty sure it's a familiarity thing my first and currently only pistol is the p30l, so at this stage I am smoother with the paddles than the browning button style. it's your money your call,
As for small hands it does come with adjustable backstraps. And I can feed it anything and everything for ammo and it will go omnomnomnomnom.

What's wrong with a polymer pistol? If you think they don't go the distance here you go. http://pistol-training.com/archives/2668

Oh I'm sure they're reliable, I have a m&p 9 and a CZ75.

Do you use your thumb on the mag release lever or ur middle finger? The thing is I heard that people often get DQ'd at a match cause the range officer thinks u're putting a finger in the trigger guard if u do use any finger other than your thumb. My personal experience is, it's hard to use the thumb without altering my grip, that's all, everything else about HK guns I like, the USP for example, even in 45 shoots like a 9mm it's so nice to shoot.

I just don't think I can spend 1500 bucks on an HK , at least not yet

I use my support hand thumb, keeps my firing hand without breaking grip<(also did that with gloves), so you can do a tac reload and have one in the chamber ready to go, but it's possible to break grip and actuate it with either your firing hand thumb, or trigger finger, and i guess you can use the middle finger but it seems unnecessarily awkward.

If you are basing the paddles on the usp I recommend trying out the p30, it has bigger paddles.

As for that last bit, your money your call, although why you want a shadow when you already have a cz75 kinda baffles me.

haha... I didn't start the thread actually, lol I have a CZ75 SP01 Shadow line already. It is the original poster that's considering getting his first gun.

I've shot the p30 as well, I will have to try your reload method next time I rent it at the range. I did however notice the p30 had a bit more muzzle flip than the USP compact Tact 45. ... might have just been my bad grip, but the p30 just felt a bit snappier

What caliber of p30? Give it a shot, I will try and upload a video and send it your way. Maybe that will help

The HK is better looking, better feeling, and better made in my opinion. In a torture test I think that the HK wins every time. When you think that the HK is too expensive, realize in fact that it is just you that is too cheap. Quality is something that you pay for. Everyone shoots CZ and Glock and I like to be different. You will learn to shoot well whatever is put in your hand if you have to or want to bad enough. I can't imagine the P30L with all it's grip configurations not fitting every ones hands. If a gun was $3000 and it lasts 30 years then that is money well spent. It does not matter which gun you buy for your first gun as it is just a stepping stone to the next one, then the next one, then the next one, then the next ..............

Not the way i look at it, when this p30l gives up the ghost it will simply be replaced by another one.

P30 is a nice gun, as are most HKs. My beefs are: 1) trigger blows, even the LEM blows, if you can get it to the states and have Gray guns or whoever it is work their magic, then it can have a nice trigger. 2) parts availability, ha, what availability. Seriously even in the US it sucks balls, up here worse. 3) after market parts, again, ha. What aftermarket? In the USA you can find some stuff like sights, but that's about it. While the gun may be awesome, some things people like to do is make their gun their own through customization, not going to be able to do that. 4) for the money it doesn't do anything better than any of the other guns mentioned. Glock, Sig, CZ, Beretta will give you just as good of performance durability wise as the HK, or damn near. For the money of the HK you can buy two other guns.

Hm cz is cheaper, steel frame not plastic. Shoots faster more accurately, easier to modify, cheaper mags, NATO torture tested and approved, design been around since 1975, best grip angle and feel in the biz, most winning-est 9mm in competition in the world for how many years now?, more used and trusted by the lives of more law enforcement and military personnel than ANY other sidearm in the world.... Including GLOCK...... Did I leave anything out?........ I know what id choose......
