Hi , I have been around rifles and shotguns my whole life , but not handguns. I just ordered my first 2 an M & P .22 and a CZ75 SP-01 shadow. All you shadow owners could give me some advice on the gun. I have read it is a good gun . I would like to here from some owners. Hope I wont be disappointed. Thanks.
 
You most definitely will not be disappointed with the CZ Shadow.It is not only accurate and well made,it is a lot of pistol for the money.I have not had a single failure of any kind with mine so far....
 
We have a local commercial rental range in the area. When I wanted to get into handguns I went and tried pretty much all they had over a few visits. I was split between the Beretta 92fs and the IWI Jericho (Baby Eagle at the time). Then I was given another shooter's Shadow to try..... A Shadow became my first handgun and it's still one of my favourites.

You won't be disappointed unless your hands are so oddly shaped that the gun simply doesn't fit you.

Do send away for some springs right away. A couple of replacement recoil springs just because somewhere down the road you'll need them, a replacement trigger return spring or two, a spare extractor and extractor spring and most importantly of all a couple of 13lb mainsprings. The mainsprings are all you really need but you may as well get the others to split up the shipping cost.

With the lighter mainspring the gun jumps to a whole other level. It's darn good as it comes out of the box. But with the mainspring swap it becomes somewhat magical.
 
I am not the best to provide advice, however I had similar hesitations as BCRider .. before I got my RPAL I wanted to try some 9s. Ended up trying G17 and a Shadow. Touched both handguns for a first time. The difference between the G and the CZ was noticeable ..way better results with the CZ at 10 and 15 m. After 5 magazines with the CZ I could add a tooth to a smiley on the target.
 
I got the 75B and absolutely love it. I can't imagine a pistol fitting me better, or that is more intuitive to operate. Everyone who has shot it likes it more, and shoots it better than the P226 or the G17 (3rd gen). It's making fans of CZ with everyone who uses it.

I'm sure the Shadow will immediately be on your "never sell" list. If not, I'll buy it.
 
My first handgun was a Shadow, next a GSG 22, A 1911 Norinco .45 and then a Ruger .45 SR 1911, The CZ is by far my favorite and is definitely never going to be for sale, I bought a .22 Kadet2 kit for it and CZ thin aluminum grips and plan on ordering the 13 lb main spring , the trigger is very good and the extra weight near the muzzle makes rapid fire grouping tight. The Polycoat finish is very tough and the sights are very good, Mine came with 3 magazines and the Kadet kit came with 2 magazines, It is the best bang for the buck but magazines are a bit pricey as I always like 5 mags as a minimum.
 
CZ has made one of the finest most underrated pistols ever in the 75 platform. If you're interested in hitting what you aim at, you will own a CZ.

You will like your Shadow, that been said I preferred Hogue rubber finger grips on my CZ. I now have a Shadowline with thin aluminium grips that seem to be nice as well.
 
Great choice and value. Ergonomic factory grip, all metal weight reduces snappy recoil, red fiber optic front sight, very short trigger reset in single action. One of my two favourite pistols, the other a STI Spartan in 45 ACP.

You're talking about a specific "Canadian" edition, but the standard SP01 comes with an 18# mainspring. Switching to a 13# spring really, really improves the trigger.
I can't say anything about the Canadian, never having fired one.
