Import difficulties and the price is no longer that competitive according to posts CanAm has made.

You do what you can. I shoot a lot more than a case a year so to have 20 years (or more) worth of ammo, you have to have a pile of it. I can't see it getting any cheaper so get what you can afford and have space for. Try to find a group of local guys to go in together on a multi-case purchase. I know at least one dealer will discount to $180 a case for 10 cases or more.

I'll need a couple of spare rifles, too.;)

True very true!

I remember on another thread on ammo you suggested me to open my crates and throw them in my surplus can just to save space and inspect them for moisture.

Any tips on how you organize your stock pile?

I only have 8 spare ammo cans (the other been used) and looks like it I need to get more,now look for next princess auto ammo can sale;)
 
I picked up a few more ammo cans at Princess Auto a couple weeks ago. I love those things.

Organize? By calibre and year of production, obviously.








Kidding. I just stack the cans up wherever I can find the space and they're not in the way. The backs of shelves and tucked in corners seems to work. I also found some free storage space where the factory tins fit perfectly standing on their sides with the wood case removed.

I was thinking more on put a lock in the cold room get some Ikea $25 wooden shelves and stack them (can't afford to buy my needed 23 crates in one shot but as you suggested buy a crate of two when extra cash is available).

Will see who can post pics of 25 crates of Czech ammo first (LOL)! Just kidding!
 
If your cold room has a constant temp and humidity it should be a great place to store it. I'd just stack the cases on the floor or set them on a couple of 2x4's. I don't know if the IKEA shelves I've got could stand more than a case or two on the lowest shelf, though.

I've got some guns that are real finnicky #####es, but you give me a minute to strip and clean it after dropping it into a puddle, they'll shoot too.

The fact that it didn't explode after touching water was the point. :p I just keep hearing parrots yapping about how M4's will jam/explode/turn into jello if you don't clean them 7/8/9/10 times a day, or how they will explode/jam/turn into jelly if you get so much as a drop of rain on it.
