But some people like class:)

And just what's not "classy" about this? :D

The stocks the wrong shape for the rifle. It looks like someone would prefer to have an AK than a CZ so they tried to make it look like one. The CZ stock is the shape it is as that shape is what works best. Anything that detracts from functionality for purely asthetic purposes is a gimmick and not classy.

You did ask.

All I can say is the CZ leaves my cheek feeling sore after shooting 30 rounds. I've noticed the effect is greater when a muzzlebreak is used :)

I was just going to post about this very thing - I didn't notice it much before putting on the Dlask muzzlebrake but it seems to be that because the muzzle is pushed down, the stock snaps upwards and smacks my cheekbone - it's still a little sore from Sunday's TacMatch.

And for the sake of not hijacking this thread I'll add that I wanted to put a rail on replacing the rear sight but now looking at what some of you guys have done I'm seriously considering the receiver mount option.

One question, does the side mount method leave the optic offset at all? It's an important factor for me as a lefty...

To each their own, but your right about one thing, I'd rather have an AK. But even if I had an AK I wouldn't leave the presswood buttstock on the CZ, espeshally with WOOD furiniture. I'd go for the folder then.

All and all though, you put an AK stock on a CZ with optics, I'd be wiling to bet it be more comfortable to shoot with. Look meaner too:cool:

I have te Dlask muzzlebrake too and it really works, suprizing since I thought it was going to be a bit gimmicky and mostly for looks. It also makes using a cleaning rod difficult as I can't use a bore guide. I've taken mine off because of the difficulties.

I'd love to have a side mount set-up like this but I'm not much of a machinist and think I'd end up screwing things up, especially milling out the 1/8" groove. Is Flobalob still doing this for people? I'd gladly pay money to have it done by someone who knows what they're doing.

I knew you were gonna show up Armed .. I was waiting for you dude!! Now that i have the M4 on there .. i am not so sure I like it either. I only wanted to try to get a little more out of the stock for eye relief, didn't really care that it looked like S**t. I can throw the press board stock on anytime anyway.

No need to explain yourself to a guy who wanted to mount a police style shotgun mount/rack to the dashboard of his honda civic.

Please note the copius amount of "Mr. Greens"!

I'm sure Flobalob would do it for you.

As you say to each their own. Funny thing is that in the US where they can have AK's many would love to own a VZ/CZ, I guess it's a case of the grass being greener. I personally prefer the CZ to the AK, I think it is a much nicer weapon to shoot, there is something about it that feels just right, something that the AK does not seem to have. I owned a VZ many years ago in another country and several AK owners there tried it, every single one of them thought it was a nicer weapon to use.

As for the stock, the standard one is perfect and very comfortable for both the red dot and the irons, it may look like it's too low for a red dot but I can assure you it's very comfortable. If you instal a stock with a higher comb it may well work with a red dot but it will be far form perfect with the irons. Anyone can test this for themselves by making a temporary comb from a piece of cardboard, just fold over the stock and fix with duct tape.

Armed has a honda civic! .. no wonder he has as many guns as he has! Is it an old beater like the one I had back in the 80's? Come on Armed, inquiring minds want to know dude!!

Best part about owning old cars and lots of nice guns is that there is no deprication on either! Guns go up in value, nice new cars go down in value.
Plus no car out there no matter how new is as reliable as a even the crappiest gun and I 've yet to find a car that can do zero to 2700fps as fast as a 30-06.LOL.

Sorry to digress, that is a great set up on the scope, I am plotting already to get one done. THanks for the help on ground breaking a reliable set up.

well Dave .. I agree. You just need to make sure you are smart about picking both. There are used guns and cars that NO ONE in their right mind should own .. depreciation aside. It's a matter of research and living long enough on the planet to know good from bad .. guns and cars included.

BTW .. there IS NO OTHER set up for the 858. Those who do not believe that .. keep spending your money to figure it out.

:D

FWIW, I jsut noticed today that Marstar is now selling the "Scoutscope.com" scout mount for the VZ58S and also the SKS one. About $95 or so I think?

Anyhow, lets you mount an aimpoint or whatever without D&T'ing the receiver of the 58S.

Has anyone bought the rear sight replacement scope mount from marstar yet? If it performs well, I'd rather have that than start drilling holes in the reciever of my 58S

I took a look at the description of the mount on Marstars site, apparently you have to take the rail off to strip the rifle, which makes me wonder about it holding zero or not.

I'm glad I have the SVD system, it holds perfect zero and I have the option to use the iron sights at the flick of the lever.
