Maybe a stupid question, but if you guys are redesigning this rifle, why not put the charging handle and safety on the left side (where they are supposed to be).
An oversize mag release and bolt catch would also be cool as standard equipment.

I'm in for one of each! I'll be able to use all the added parts from my prohibited 858 now. A receiver deal by itself would sure be nice before the spring of 2016!

We are trying to keep it as close to the 858 as possible without having to retool for everything, which would drive the costs up. Everything that gets added is great and some are very good ideas, but they all cost money. This way a person can trick the rifles out as they go along as little or as much as they desire. I personally don't use the bolt catch on rifles, so the overside one would be of no value for folks such as myself. Just using that as an example.

Here is another one for you guys. The Hunter and the Tactical. We had them here and had a chance to shoot them. First impressions are very, very favourable. Fired some rounds through both of them. 270 yard steel plate hits were easier even with the iron sighted tactical. Finish on these look fantastic. They are a very very sweet rifle. We aren't taking any orders yet as we still need RCMP approval on them. Just thought we'd post a couple of pictures for you guys to see.
Short barreled versions will be available in the future (11.8")? Real wood versions?
It's looking great, by the way. Hope the RCMP won't sit on this for a year. Receiver finish looks awesome! Hope the price will put it under the CSA versions... One of these will look great with the wood furniture I have

Yep, I'll take one of each. Here's hoping the RCMP don't dink around too long with this. I'm trying to stop myself from getting a VZ58...I'd much rather these.

Can you tell me if the extended bolt releases, mag releases and ambi selectors we have (NEA, BCT, Corwin) will function/fit on the tactical model? I'm assuming the NEA and BCT upper and lower guards will fit in just fine.

So yea, that looks really far forward to me, with no space to move it back further. Have you used it in this config?
