It would be such a shame if they didn't come with chrome lined 18.6 inch barrels. I wouldn't even consider one without a chrome barrel.

You should reconsider. Don't deny yourself a fine rifle like this because it's not chromed. Chromed is nice, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. Even if shooting corrosive ammo, it is not hard to keep the barrel clean and pristine after shooting.

I am very tempted by both the Hunter and Tactical versions...I might have to purchase both. A chrome lined barrel is not a deal breaker and if it helps keep the cost of the rifle down, I am more than happy to forgo that feature.

on a totally different line of conversation do you think those barrels could be incorporated into a new bolt action rifle ? given the popularity and rareness of the cz 527 carbine ? being as they have no gas tap drilled .

could be a good seller .

I'd be just as happy with a break action single shot rifle here. As long as the price is kept low, they would sell fast I think. A cheap plinking rifle is always a fun toy to get, no matter now many you already have.

Yeah, it would be cool to get some mock ups of what the hunter and tactical models might look like. No photoshop talents here, I can only use my imagination.

I sure wouldn't have turned anything into a parts gun yet.

That's an odd comment for a Wolverine Supplies employee, isn't it?

My 23 y.o. son and I both own (now prohibited) CZ858 Tactical 2 P 2011 Models (purchased together directly from Wolverine).

We phoned Wolverine Supplies on 6th March - 2 days prior to your comment in the above quote to ask what we could do? Did we have to surrender them? Would new receivers become available? etc. etc.

It was suggested by the guy at Wolverine (pun intended) that we strip both rifles and cut the receivers in two as close to the chamber as possible. Keep the barrels and all other parts and replacement receivers might become available ("we're working on it").

So, I suggest all employees at Wolverine have a staff meeting and come up with a common response for all to hear or see.

'Cuz right now my son & I have two matching piles of Czech made rifle parts that we paid Wolverine $1,660 for and we don't have a clear indication as to what's going, where we stand or what's in the works to fix this...

And, there are THOUSANDS more of us waiting for the same answers. And we're upset. VERY UPSET.

Totally understand where you are coming from on this. Been thru it in '92 when many more makes / models were affected and immediately prohibed and/or confiscated. While the current condition is still unclear as to what direction / approach to follow I would suggest you direct your energy towards fighting this and not towards Wolverine. (FYI>> I am in no way affiliated with Wolverine Supplies but have been a member of the shooting community long enough to witness and benefit from the many positive ways they have affected our sport.)

If that was the information told to you I am sure it was not done in malice and may have been presented as *one* possible alternative as opposed to surrendering it???

Regardless of your current situation we should stand united against the powers that be to fight this for us now and for future generations of shooters. If there is any way Wolverine can help battle this cluster#### of a situation with the FRT / classification change I am sure they will.

Not an odd comment at all. Right now there is no need to be tearing apart or cutting the rifles, until we see how it is going to play out. The advice that was given to you about cutting the receiver, was in regards to IF and I say IF the rifles do need to be turned in to the RCMP. Cutting the receiver makes it no longer a firearm and no need for it to be turned in.

If you take the time and read back through these threads and a few of the other threads here in our forum you will see Mr. Wolverine explaining exactly that. There is a ton on info on these threads if a person takes the time to actually read instead of skimming.

I happen to be an effected owner and there is no way I would be stripping down my gun yet until everything said and done. If in the end the rifles do have to be turned in, then cutting the receiver is in the cards.

There are no concrete answers just yet, but there is also no need to knee jerk react to all this either. Wait until the dust clears and the final outcome is known. Then a person needs to take a course of action.

Everyone here at Wolverine has been fighting tooth and nail against this, writing letters, making phone calls, whatever we can do. I understand your frustration, but channel that into the fight not into giving up.

For all of you possessing non-restricted firearms that may become prohibited, this is what I would do if I was you.

First the Government will have to announce how this situation will be handled and then we will have a “grace period” in which to comply, DO NOTHING UNTIL THEN.

If there is no Grandfathering or no compensation, consider the following.

Simply destroy the receiver and take photos. You do not have to report anything to the authorities as you are no longer in possession of a firearm . I suggest you cut the receiver in half then cut out the part with the serial number.

This will leave the Government guessing as to the compliance rate. SWAT teams will not be kicking down doors as there are no LGR to tell them where to go.

I would not hand in a stripped receiver.

I am already making contingency plans for supplying new stripped receivers that would be compatible with your parts kit., this is a worse case fall back plan.

This was posted by John in our surrender or destruction thread, on 2nd March.

My staff and I are all on the same page as some of us have been in this position before. The message we have given from day one has been, don't panic, sit tight, do nothing and wait and see what options we are given. An amnesty has been announced for owners although no details have been announced. Worse case scenario is to destroy your receiver but not yet. There seems to have been a misunderstanding between you and a member of my staff which unfortunately has resulted in the premature destruction of your property that may in time prove unwarranted.

Please contact me direct at John@wolverinesupplies.com and we will see what we can do for you.
