Fyi.....folks who may have been contemplating on acquiring one.....London Arms (Canadian distributor) has recently received a consignment. You'd need to order via a retailer obviously :)

I have a buddy looking for a 16...
Where is London Arms, There are no retailers left on PEI but I am likely going to get a dealer's license.

The Distributor is located in ON.

Recommend go via Epps.......competitive prices in comparison to others here. I finally got one after a long wait :)

Made by Huglu in Turkey. There's no duplicity about it. The guns and boxes have Huglu markings.

The two that I've played with were the sideplated, single trigger models. Features that make a sxs unacceptable to me.

A 28 gauge Bobwhite interests me except that it only comes in 26" barrels and I prefer longer tubes. 28" is a minimum and I would buy 30" if it came in that length.

That's true.

Frankly, the Bobwhites are the only ones that appeal to me and I own/ experienced so far. Don't care much for the rest of Huglu shotguns that CZ offer in their lineup.

Among the lot, I found the Bobwhite 20ga to be the best in every aspect so far.

Me too because it comes with 28" barrels and is a trim enough package.

Although I have a minor urge for an Amarillo, 12 gauge, 20" barrels. Must have been watching all those westerns when I was a kid.

I got my 20ga at Epps 2yrs ago. I checked everywhere and they had the best price. I had the inletting check at Epps before shipping to avoid any splitting down the road.

I like mine overall. Mine had a bit of cast for a RH shooter. I'm 6' and it fits and hits well for me. The bbls are a bit heavier given the screw tubes, but the gun is balanced nicely.

I was a bit dissapointed with the stock finish as they cut the checkering and then applied the finish over the entire stock including the checkering. I will prolly get it cleaned up someday, but it's a hunting gun, so maybe not.

I have handled Huglo's before and can't say I was very impressed. What makes these one's different? What's the price?

If you think the CZ'S are nice, check out the Yildiz doubles. Just Google Wide North (Canadian Importer) or the Yildiz web site -- fantastic for the $ with beautiful wood. No 28's but nice 20's.
Cheers.

They look nicer than the Huglo's unfortunately no 16's. Did you check out the Yildiz pump guns very different.

Don't know if the Bobwhite was among those that you handled......to me at least, the Bobwhites are simply plain hunting tools albeit with the sought after conventional Upland features that many of us are unable to commonly acquire in a sxs (well, at least in Canada) without spending, let's say $3K+ in the process :)

The Bobwhite, coupled with nice fit/finish, good balance, well regulated bbls + sub $1K price point make it an attractive proposition although I was quite skeptical when I first purchased a 12 and 20 couple of years ago.

Various models of the Huglus offered by CZ received criticism Stateside from a QC perspective and deservedly so. Having said that, the Bobwhites seem to have done well so far. Lemons, if you will, tend to surface and the same would be true even when it comes to Berettas or Brownings, for example.

What makes those Huglu's different? Afraid I can't comment since I have never used any other Turkish brand firearm previously to draw any constructive comparision......the Bobwhites I have been using have served me very well so far. The jury is still out on long term performance..........

As an after thought, Sharptail and Straightshooter offered detailed insights on this model (using 20 and 28ga examples) some months ago.......very constructive and honest impressions, IMHO.

You mean that they can make nice rifles, and pistols in the check/tchex/ whatever republic, but they can't make a shotgun....gotta have 'em made in turkey? And they looked so nice!

No 28? No 16? Finally Win/64 and I agree on something. Neither of us will be buying a Yildiz :dancingbanana:
You better stop that or your gonna make my beret stand up.
