Need alittle help with my Kadet pistol.

Just got it and stripped it down for a cleaning and now once i insert an empty mag and lock the slide back and take the empty mag out and try and sling shot the slide back to close it, it stays locked open. The slide stop is in correctly and the pistol has been reassembled several times correctly but i cant close the slide on an empty chamber.

WTF is going on with it????

If i push the slide stop down then yes the action does close but i am a lefty so i am use to sling shot the slide to get it back in to battery. When i try the sling shot method it will not close. I have to keep pulling back on the slide several time to get it to close
 
So it's not moving freely.
I don't have a Kadet but I have a Kadet kit and it slingshots just fine. Maybe try and see if something is causing the lock to bind up a bit? Take it out and re-install.....?
 
OK I see you already did the re and re.....
Is this a new gun for you? New problem?
I will pull mine out and check into it......
 
Mine moves freely, not quite rattling loose but very easy to move and it releases with a slingshot type release.
Are you using the kit or a dedicated Kadet?
 
It is the full kadet pistol not the kit. The slide lock is alittle stiff to put in place but it goes in fully and works when i use it to close the slide. Dont know why it all of asudden it isnt releasing when i try to sling shot it back to firing position. Even with a new mag loaded and inserted into the pistol i cant get it to release by sling shotting it. I have to use the slide release to get it to close all the time now.
 
Just oiled it up. Seems the slide stop is very stiff now. Was working fine until I took it apart and cleaned it and put it all back together. This is my second Kadet pistol so I am familiar with these pistols.

Cant seem to see where it is binding up tho, the spring that holds the slide stop in is stiff to where I pop the slide stop in to place is a bit hard.
 
I dunno, FVCK!!!!!!!

Guess I just have to resort to using the slide stop, LOL.

I dont think I have ever said slide stop so many times in sucha samll amount of time.
 
Fvck. Same thing today. Locks back on an empty mag and with no mag in the pistol i can not rack the slide. It just stays locked back. I still have to manually push down on the slide stop.
This Kadet is really starting to piss me off.
Any help anyone??
 
post a picture of your slide stop, here are some pictures of a functioning one. is the slide stop droping down when the mag is removed?

first pic shows a beveled edge that catches the slide, have seen this bevel missing which can cause your issue.

Something is wrong with the retaining spring. It should not only hold the pin in place but also make it (the slide stop) go down when you remove the mag and rack the slide. If it's hard to put the stop back in, you may have debris in there or a mangled spring.
 
@dizzy- yes the slide stop goes up with a mag inserted. With no mag in the pistol it kinda stays up. Which brings me to @Slavex, i have cleaned it several times now.making sure no debris is in it. The retaining spring seems stiffer then normal now. Maybe there is something in there but i dont see anything.
I just cant figure out why it was working before i took the pistol apart but once i cleaned it and put it all back together it is doing it.
 
Dizzy, yes it has the bevel on the slide stop. In fact i have 2 slide stops. One from an old Kadet i use to have. Thwu both will hold the slide open on an empty mag but again once the mag is taken out the slide stop stays in the up position even when trying to rack the slide. Must be something in there binding it up.

What can hold the slide stop in the up position once the mag is out? the retaining spring, something got bent or bound up or debris found its way in when you reassembled it.
 
Your slide stop spring (inside frame on right side) is out of shape, you could have caused it by forcing slide stop in.

Take the retaining pin out by driving it into frame, inspect the spring and go from there.
