Very good not amazing, It depends what you like, no wow factor.
I had a Brno Fox II and hated it, rough action, light wood, matte nothing polished....reminded me of a good pellet gun. The new CZ's are better in my opinion but similar concept. High scope rings, rough clip hanging down.

Another big fan of CZ's!
I have a couple 452's and they're stellar - very accurate, too.

The budget is negotiable..Lol. Not too sure if I want to spend 2K on a Cooper for a Rifle that will probably be a backyard plinker. I mostly have Sako and Weatherby rifles. Just always wanted a .17 Remington and the only ones I found new offering that chambering was CZ or Cooper.

Yes, the big bonus with CZ is that they are readily available in .204 ruger and can be found in .17rem. I understand the position you are in as I have been thinking of a CZ in .204 for some time now but have been holding out for something...well, different.
A new CZ will be $1000 to $1200 out the door for a "backyard plinker" ....if you are patient you could find a real sweet older Sako in .17rem for the same price, the guns don't compare.

Ya...Sako's Rule. I had an oppurtunity to buy a Sako Deluxe in .17 remington about 8 years ago and i passed on it and have regreted it ever since. I think that is why i have this obsession to own a .17 for some reason. Im not real fond of buying used 1000-1200 rifles and only being able to see pics.

Were you thinking the 527 American or the 527 Varmint?
These guns look much better with a 50mm scope but they get a top wobble.

Yes the scope mounts are required high or higher...
The bolt throw is long/high and the way the bolt handle is built it will hit your scope eye piece, they could definitely slim it down some.
The safety can be backwards on some, and stiff on some. Nothing polished, need a good work in, many reps.
Action is nice and petite, feeds well straight in, not silky but reliable, the mag gives some sheet metal noise when the rounds chamber.
High bolt throw combined with high scope rings and the awkward drop mag position, can make for an unbalanced package.
I am being picky but for 1000 bucks it is allowed. Compared to a Sako Vixen the 527 is half the gun, still very good, not superb.

On saubier.com there is a fellow there that is a cz guru. Apparently he has had a cz. 17 rem out to 1000 yards. Dont think its with the accuracy that the larger cals bring but its doable with some custom bullets. Guys seem to really swear by them once the factory grease/crud is cleaned out. They all seem to shoots lights out.
Is the Vixen the same rifle as the Riihimaki? I've heard great things about them chambered in .222 Rem.
