CZ Rimfires

I have a CZ 457 and the thing is smooth as butter. Accurate as well. I am coming from an old Savage Mark II.

Picked up an OEM polymer 10 round mag when it came into the LGS. Rounds feed smoothly. Wood is nice, Feel and weight are great. The only thing I regret is not buying one sooner.

Recently got a new 457 Varmint .22LR. 60* bolt is great, trigger is suburb, fits me like a glove, very accurate, quality is excellent, it is one of my "never- ever-sell" guns. The trigger and 60* bolt make it that much nicer than the old 452s. JMO

Through a PM that was just received, I am told that the 457 has a "push forward" to fire safety - so I would see that as a "good" improvement over the previous versions. But, I'm just an old fart stuck in the past, perhaps.

Yes it does now that you mention it, doesn`t matter to me because I never use it anyway.

Yes, the push forward safety is an improvement from previous versions, and heard it was more geared to be in line with North America general expectations for "forward to fire"

I am happy for the 60 degree rotation too, as it ensures it has enough clearance from the back end of the scope.

The gun did come with a 5-round polymer mag. I found that CZ mags are harder to find (often out of stock) except for the 25-round banana mag, which I bought as it was available and after putting it into the gun, had buyer's remorse. A banana mag just doesn't look good in this gun.

When the 10-round polymer and steel mags finally came into my LGS, I grabbed three of them (polymer) - within 2-3 days, the 200 or so magazines the store got were completely sold out. Store said lots of people had the email notification on these 10 round magazines, so they sold out quickly.

I find my stock 457 pretty accurate after some minor adjustments; apparently the varmint version is even more so out of the box...

I had a 455 training rifle It was amazingly and consistently accurate, just a bit heavy for my needs. I now have a Brno #2, really like it too, and the beautifully contoured barrel and very trim walnut bavarian stock fits my needs perfectly, and the accuracy is on par with my Anschutz now that I have installed a YoDave Trigger kit, maybe more so.

It does not get any better than that.

The 455 Trainer has a 24.8" barrel. What's the length of your Brno 2 barrel?

I would need to measure it, but I think the diameter is notably smaller and contoured rather than a straight taper. The trainer is more of a medium to medium heavy barrel. It may be a little shorter, but not much. The finer stock, and walnut rather than the very dense beech or birch on the trainer saves some weight also.

There was a lot of complaining about the ''backward'' safety on
the 452's and 455's and how it was such a revolution in engineering
when the 457's came out with the ''right'' kind of push forward safety.

I rarely if ever use the safety that that isn't any issue for me.

I have a 455 training rifle its nice and fairly accurate at 100m
I bought my mother a nice 457 Premium and when sighting it in at the range for the first time I shot this group with white federal black friday 22lr, first 5 rounds at 100m.... I left those iron sights alone, put a scope on it as was the request and wow it is a laser beam. So for the record 457 premium > 455 trainer

Pretty good with garbage ammo, try some 1/2 decent ammo like Center-X, SK RM or Eley Match!

Was just given a 457 Lux 22WMR that my brother-in-law bought before he passed away, and never fired. Put a Vortex Crossfire II 2-7 x 32 and zero'd at 50 yards. Took it to the gopher patch a couple of weeks ago and came home very impressed. Was using the 30 grain Hornady Vmax, and a lot of gophers met their fate. It dosen't reach out like my 17WSM, but at 100-150 yards it it is as good or better than my Mossberg 640 Chuckster. Really pleased with the rifle. I was thinking that a 17HMR barrell might be a good investment.

I really like the 452's, especially my American.

That been said, my girlfriend bought a 457 Varmint At-one and its a very nice rifle.
I would buy a 457 over a 455.

452's are the classic *childs* of the BRNO's

I never like the 452, as the 457 solved all it's mistakes. The 457 has a better bolt, better trigger, and can change calibers. The 457 even has a proper bolt release, so it is a no brainer to go for their new model.CZ even says it is the best .22 they ever made, and I can see why. They improved the gun in almost every way and the quality is higher as well, and the bolt is now capable of shooting without the weak strikes and misfires of the 452.Yodave made his fortune from that nasty flaw in the 452, as well as the heavy non adjustable, trigger.I consider my cheap Marlin botom of the line xt 22 to be better than the 452, but not nearly as good as my 457.
