CZ Shadow 2 safety question

I had the fortune of making it down to a local-ish gun range today, and decided to try a few that i'd never shot before. I ended up shooting the HK SFP9, an M&P9, and a Shadow 2. Needless to say, the Shadow 2 was the only memorable one of the bunch- so much so that I'm considering buying one now. I can't express enough how fantastic that gun is to shoot!

On that note- my only gripe was that I had a tough time actuating the flat safeties on the gun as cleanly as I'd like to. I'm a lefty, and would be running the safety on the right hand side of the gun. From what I understand, the Shadow 2 ships with a larger safety, but is that one ambidextrous, or is it only for the one side?

Is it possible to outfit the Shadow 2 with the rocker style safety that your thumb rests on when shooting? I had one on an SP01 that I used to have, and really enjoyed that.

Thanks!

CZ only makes a a LH safety lever with the extended ledge on it for the Shadow2 and they include it with the pistol. I don't know why they didn't do a RH one at the same time. I used the low profile ones for a while but decided to change it out for the extended one and much prefer it as a thumb rest just like riding my 1911 safety.

I've read that you can use the Shadow 1 RH lever in the S2 with some minor fitting. I haven't done this so I can't confirm it.

Yes, I installed the large one, on the right side of the gun and I can reach it perfectly with the left thumb!

If you were where I think you were, you should take the opportunity to try the Arsenal Strike One they have. I've run all of the "rental" guns you mentioned, and the CZ and Strike One were both amazing. I found the M&P very hard to aim and the HK never felt at home. My first time picking up the Strike was a revelation. I knew nothing about it, just went along their range options "tried it, tried it, tried it, hated that, never heard of that - let's check it out". Tight groups, intuitive controls, low recoil, fast requisition. Reset isn't my favourite admittedly.

I shot much tighter with the Strike than the SP01, but both worked beautifully for me. Felt great, pointed naturally, put holes where I expected. I'm not a lefty, but my shooting buddy is. He likes his Steyr but first time picking up the Strike, he too shot tight groups. That gun is under-appreciated and not nearly as well-known as it should be. Or maybe it is and I'm just late to the party.

Shadow IIs no longer ship with the extended safety, the production manager at CZ has stopped including them, it is no issue to order in a left handed extended safety either, we already have them on order for a few folks. Extended is not the perfect word for it as it is no larger than the standard right handed one, but on the left side. If anyone is in need of one let us know! Part Number: 1091-1337

The one I'm thinking of is a rocker style that you'd rest your thumb on and just apply pressure to the front or rear curved part of the lever, rather than the "flick" of the thumb you'd normally need to activate it. The one I'm thinking of actually worked as a thumb rest too. The safeties on the gun I shot yesterday were both flat and very low profile. I need something with more presence.

I saw that there, but I didn't bother with it because I'd never consider buying one. They just look funny, IMO. I need to shoot well with it and think it looks good before I'll spend money on it.

Yeah, I guess its better name would be a high-profile safety. Didn't know they stopped including it in the kit, glad I got an earlier batch.

You mean, like this but the RH side for a southpaw:

Any idea how difficult it is to remove the flat safety and install the standard ? Might someone have instructions ?

What about the shadow 2 mag release I had emailed you guys about months ago?? I never got a response, but someone called Tyson did read it.

It could be tricky the first time but once you get used to it, it's a 5-10min job. There are videos on Youtube that show you how to do it. If I got some time, I can put together instructions if anyone was interested.

That's the one!

Yeah, sadly from what I've read, CZ doesn't make a high-profile one for the RH side for the S2, at least not that I've seen. I haven't seen any aftermarket ones either.

Cajun GW shows part #01606RH lever for the S2 (SP01 Compact). So it's possible that the SP01 Compact safety lever works in the S2?
