Anyone tried these two bad boys? I was contemplating buying one or the other. I held both but have not fired either one. Just wondering what people who have shot both think? Thanks for your input.

I owned a Shadow, sold it. I shot a S2 once, wasn't that much difference. I own a Tanfoglio Stock 3 Extreme as my main IPSC gun, but it has one rather annoying "feature", it has no de-cocker. I shoot all year round with our club and trying to manually de-#### the Tan with gloves on is not a good idea - Shadow has the same feature...

I really liked the feel of the 226 Legion first time I held it, it just fit my hands really well. I bought it without even shooting it and plan to use it for winter practice as it has a de-cocker (yay!). Have shot it twice now and the trigger is very nice, very short / fast reset. Recoil / flip are pretty good, allowing fairly quick double taps. Overall I quite like the Legion.

In reality, either will serve you well, in my case, the de-cocker was very important as was the fit/feel in my hands. YMMV

After owning an SP01 I can say that CZ's just aren't my thing, so I purchased a couple Legions.

The 226 and 229 are both wonderful shooters. The new sig xray sights are awesome, the Bruce Gray trigger on them is glorious, and that PVD finish is just gorgeous. The Sig P22x series is wonderful already, and the Legion configuration is just icing on the cake.

I posted a range report/review of my 229 if that helps make up your mind

Thanks for your post and I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a 226 Legion. While at the gunstore I also saw a P229 M11A1 so I picked that up too. Now just waiting for the transfer.

Thanks but as per my op I did hold both but have not fired either.

I did miss that. Umm I have shot the Shadow 2 and it shoots great but I have not shot a sig so I can't compare. The weight in the Shadow 2 is nice for quick follow up shots if competing in IPSC.

Although you have already made your choice, the opening post should have explained what your purpose is for choosing between the two. I have fired both, and bottom line, is if you are shooting IPSC, then hands down go with the Shadow 2, for all other aspects (IDPA, target shooting, etc.) I would opt for the P226 Legion. Why? The shadow 2 has much better recoil control, and better overall performance in fast paced shooting. Also parts such as magazines and springs are easier to find for the CZ. The Shadow 2 was exclusively designed for IPSC. Again, if you do not shoot IPSC, then go for the Legion.

I have shot a Shadow 2 and I enjoyed it a lot. It has a nice DA and SA pull. I however DISLIKE greatly that it needs a manual decocking to put it into DA. I also disliked the slide release distance from my thumb, it was just too far away and the safety also got in the way of me engaging it. I would consider buying one someday because it did shoot really well when I tried it.

However, I OWN a Sig 226 Legion and I love the handgun, it has a good but not great DA pull, but the SA pull and reset really makes up for it. I love the sights, but I still need practice shooting with their combat feature to get better groupings.

I would choose the Sig over the Shadow personally because it's all metal, has a decocker and the controls are slim but easy to get to with my dominant hand.

When you get your Legion in, make sure you clean and lube it before shooting and I also suggest engaging the slide stop/release over and over to kinda break it in because it's a bit stiff at first I found.

I hope you enjoy it!

The Shadow 2 IS all steel. When you pick it up, you definitely know that, as it weighs 48oz. There is no thinking that there is aluminium or plastic in that gun. Again, with the heavy weight, the gun was made strictly for IPSC, not IDPA, or to carry concealed. If you do not shoot IPSC, you would not want the Shadow 2 over the Legion. It is sort of like buying a race car to drive to work.

WOW! When I held and shot it, it felt like polymer, especially the weight of it convinced me...

However, now that I look up the specs the 226 Legion is 2.1Lbs and the Shadow is 2.9Lbs...this baffles me even more because my Sig feels heavy to hold. The Shadow felt like a polymer firearm...

My brain is baffled right now...maybe CZ did a better job distributing the weight? I need to hold both together now lol.

S2 weight felt like a polymer? You must've had your winter gloves on. :p

When I picked it up for the first time, first thing that I notice was the heft. Side by side with my 226 Elite Dark, the S2 is slightly heavier. Lifting up the Glock after the S2 feels very light.

Who even uses the slide release? I can't remember the last time I used mine...

I just got an M11A1 to go with my P226 and P239. Very nice but quite expensive new. I got a smoking deal on a used one though.

The P226 Legion is next. With the slightly changed trigger guard can it still use regular P226 holsters?

I think that you were holding the wrong gun. My guess would be a Phantom as they look similar, but it is made of polymer and weighs only 27oz.

No...it was a Shadow 2...they had it at a shooting event when it came out. It honestly felt light to me. My Sig feels heavier from memory honestly.

Yes, they can. My Legions fit all my normal sig holsters
