Cz shadow owners check your guns

I just got my SHADOW last week from CRAFM. I should inspect every single part of it. Good to know about this post.

Inspecting a brand new Shadow won't make a difference since it would be a defect in the frame which would be hidden by the blueing. It may reveal itself after thousands of rounds have gone through it if in fact there is a defect in your Shadow. Hopefully there aren't too many cases popping up as I really like the Shadow and was planning of getting one in the future.

Of course you should inspect a new gun for defects, issues etc, as soon as you recieve it. I assume you are not saying that the OP pictures of the problems could not be seen because of the bluing (actually paint). That type of defect and the few pock marks on the side could easily be seen by the naked eye.

I hope people realize that any mass produced item has a certain number of units that have flaws and defects. I don't see this as CRAFM's fault and there should be no need to panic about an isolated issue. CZ will most likely want to see if its a structural flaw or if some type of damage has occured after the fact (hard to tell with a new applied finish). I am sure it will be a warranty issue once its determined it was a factory defect. With any product, be it cars, guns, TV's etc. there is a warranty process that needs to take place before a new product is just handed out. Some times altering the product or finish voids the warranty.

I read this as they are willing to replace but they want the finish on this new gun to remain origional (provision that the frame surface hold the line). I would say you are out your Arma coat bill (if there is one??) and on your own if you get the new one refinished. These things usually take awhile to resolve but it looks like its starting to move forward.

Hmm, I don't know if it's doublespeak to avoid taking blame or if they are admitting to inferior casting that cannot hold up to finishes and their processes so they paint them instead? Would make me think twice about buying a CZ...

After buying a shadow I assumed that the painted finish was a cost saving measure and the savings was invested in the internals. I guess that it is easier to hide some of the cosmetic imperfections with paint than it is with blueing. Interested in hearing other ideas.

I am not concerned about CZ quality. As has been mentioned there is always a chance of a defect with any product. I checked mine carefully when I picked it up and it did have a flaw in the paint, but I am not concerned as it is a workhorse and is otherwise fine. I have yet to hear of any other such defect such as the OP has posted, but it is good to keep in mind nonetheless.

I'd say that is pretty good of them. I wouldn't shoot it though, good chance you could damage the slide if the cracks in the frame got worse.
