The gun was purchased in March 09 from CRAFM. (great bunch of guys)
The Phantom is a great gun right out of the box.
The decocker is a nice feature especially if you are used to shooting a revolver (no pesky safety)
The double action trigger on this gun is quite heavy but that should be expected on a gun that is geared towards being a duty sidearm.
On that note the polymer feature makes the Phantom comfortable for all day holster carry.
The recoil is not as bad as one might expect from a polymer gun.

On the first range day a friend of mine that owns three different Glocks was very surprised at how accurate the Phantom is. He was also surprised when he lost a bowling pin challenge at 30 yards.

On my second trip to the range a police firearms instructor gave it a try.
The results from 15 yards rapid fire 9 rounds in a 1" group. The one stray round was about .5" away. Also narrow side of 2X4 at 20 yards with a single shot.
His comment was that it shot better than his Sig.

The one down side (other than always needing more ammo :D) is ejected rounds have a habit of coming back at you. I have spoken with someone that fixed the same problem by changing the recoil spring.
The people that may not like the heavy first shot can always #### the hammer for the first shot and relax for the rest.
This is one gun that I will never sell!

If you like polymer get a SP 01 Phantom.

You can lighten the trgger pull by installing a lighter mainspring. Ghost sells CZ springs at 13# and 15#. Both of these springs will reduce your trigger pull significantly.

What sights are on your gun?

... WAT.

Pray tell, what's your definition of rapid fire? Was that 15 feet, perhaps? Also, did this happen in reality or just in someone's pet fantasy? A 1" group, being rapid fired (2 shots/second) from 15 yards out smells like bullsh*t to me. Sorry, I just felt that it needed to be said sooner rather than later.

On another note, I'm happy you're satisfied with that purchase, because I was giving the idea of buying a CZ01 Tactical/Phantom some serious thought.

Yeah, that 15 yard "rapid fire" thing had me wondering. I had a shadow and couldn't shoot it quite as well as I could shoot a plain old 75b. It felt like it recoiled a lot more than the 75b, but not as much as lighter poly pistols (like the glock, m&p, etc.) I liked the shadow and it's ergonomics and all, but ended up trading up for a Shadow which I think is better.

Go with a 13# main spring (you can also get all your CZ stuff from CZ Custom, worked great for me). It hasn't given me any problems so far with light strikes and lowers the double action from somewhere around 12-13 lbs to about 8 (on the shadow anyways). Good stuff.

Oh, and I had the same problem with the casings shooting straight back at your face. Didn't go away. I understand a gunsmith and subtly change the angle of the "rod" that strikes the head of the case as it comes back to flip it sideways out the ejection port.

Would that be the ejector?:D

Say what you want. No need to say sorry. I saw it. It happened.

Lemme put it this way:

When I see a Youtube video that clearly shows the target distance, an empty target and the shooter, never lets either off the screen, shows us the shooter rapid firing his entire mag into the target at an angle that would eliminate most possibility of foul play, and then both shooter and cameraman walk up to the target that now has the aforementioned groupings, then I'll be more inclined to believe you. Until then, I think you're either wrong about the distance conversion or our definition of rapid fire isn't the same.

Have you seen the Jarett instructional video? Even he doesn't come close to such groupings at a rapid fire pace. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but rather that it's highly unlikely until I see more convincing evidence.

On another note, nice pistol.

P.S. I also call BS on the "9 round rapid fire 1 inch group at 15 yards" claim. If the firearms instructor in question can really shoot like that, he should quit his day job.

Back from the dead!

I just had a chance to check out both the Phantom and tactical SP-01 side by side in the US.

Just curious, to you Phantom owners out there:

Do you like the grip?

Is there another grip available?

Is the 10 rd clip actually the 18rd clip (sold in the US) pinned at 10? Are they interchangeable?
I could only ind this oon the CZ site:
0422-0710-19ND 18 round magazine for cal. 9 mm Luger (only for CZ 75 SP-01)

Thanks!

:)
