I just purchased this CZ455 varmint (20.5" heavy barrel) last week. I got out to the range today and tried her out. I was shooting Hornady 17gr ballistic tip ammo. The scope is a Bushnell Elite 4-16x40 with the Multi-X reticle. Rings are Sun Optics Sporter's. Thanks to Jack at P&D for the kick-a$$ install. And thanks to P&D for having the rifle in the first place. I had been looking for one of these for quite some time.

Here's a pic of the rifle.

Here's the results after sighting in at 50m. My very first five shot groups (4 groups to a page).

And a second page at 50m.

And then the move to 100m. The wind did start to pick up at this point. So, some of the flyers were me, and some the wind. Still I am pleased, being the first time shooting this rifle.

And a second page.

The weather was quite warm today with the temperature in the valley at CHAS tickling +20c.

If anyone is considering one of these rifles, you should jump right in (if you can find one). I had a lot of fun and I love the results. I can shoot better, and I look forward to trying the heavier 20gr pills.

You won the wood lottery...that's for sure! Not that it'll be the same for you, but my 452 Varmint (when I had it) FAR preferred the 20gr HPs.

That is some killer wood on there. Nice cz!!.

Maybe keep an eye out for copper fowling after firering so many rounds, accuracy starts to suffer...

Ive had 2 hummers and neither showed any signs of copper even after a few bricks of ammo. Ive cleaned my cz when I got it and shot a lot out of it and still shoots great. Don't think there is much to worry about.

Just finished cleaning her. A little copper, not too bad. A little 762 solvent, clp, hobbes, clp.....voila!...clean again. I must say, that bore is tiny! Like cleaning some sort of toy. Oh well...a .308 it aint!

Practice a bit more...
I'm getting groups half the size of yours at 100 yards.
'Same ammo, but my 455 has the lighter barrel.

I usually get just over half inch in the .7 to 1" range with my 452 american. Unless the wind is blowing like it tends to in Saskatchewan. I only have a 3-9 on mine though.

The 20gr pills is next on my list. I did buy 750 rounds of the 17gr, though.

lol...I did the same thing, and ended-up selling all my 17gr. Did the same thing with my .204 Ruger when setting-up to reload. Bought 500 32gr. bullets, only to find it shoots 39gr. best. I'm a glutton for punishment. :)

Cool! I will shoot the stuff I bought though. (I shoot a lot.)

My light barrel 455 American groups roughly half the size as well using CCI v-max, I did notice my groups open up just a bit with Winchester v-max ammo

I'm positive you can squeeze a bit more out of your rifle, good luck!
