Just thought I'd share this for whatever it's worth . I have a CZ457 MTR that I've been testing now for a few weeks . Overall , I've not been particularly impressed with the accuracy . It would have moments of greatness followed by crap . Over and over . I've tried SK Standard Plus , SK Rifle Match , Center X , SK Biathlon , Polar Biathlon and CCI SV . No consistency whatsoever . I've tried action torque settings and improved the bedding and even a damper . No luck . Frustrating and disappointing as it's a beautiful rifle . I was telling another shooter that it just felt like there was a harmonic issue or something . Nothing helped .
So , I decided to go back to zero . I did an aggressive barrel clean with a bronze brush ( it gets cleaned after every use ) and as almost an afterthought , I thought I'd check the barrel torque . One screw was at about 60 in/lbs and the other was at about 10 in/lbs . Hmmm . I backed them both off and retorqued to 30 in/lbs . Assembled the rifle with the action at 25 in/lbs .
The light was low and there wasn't much time so I fired three , 5 shot groups back to back off a bipod with 2 different ammo . .350 , .360 , .390 . This is a huge improvement for this rifle . Three groups don't really prove anything , but , I would have never thought that the barrel screws could matter that much . Something for others to possibly check if they are struggling with CZ accuracy issues . You never know , it might help and it was free
