Hey JP I'm interested in that TC you're talking about, but have never seen one. Can you post some pics of your's please? Thanks,Sir.

I did not take pictures of any of my rifles as i find it unsafed to post to images, maybe old man fear, but would invite you to go on TC site, just can tell you that those TC rifles are exceptionnals, my humble experience show'd me that could be the best shooting rifles on the market for a grand or less, a lot of peoples go banana with that pictures thing but i have still goods things to says on CGN... Cheers. JP.

I'd look for a Ruger Express Rifle if searching for something 'nice' but affordable. Definitely a rifle to be proud of with a panache of its own owing back to the English Express Rifles of African fame.

This is my .300 Win Mag Express, still in her box.

A rifle they are practically giving away is the Savage Classics in SS. They are beautiful guns to look at and to shoot. I will be buying more if I can find them in calibres I want

I have cz 550 in 30-06,300wm in lux,and 375hh.All function flawlessy, and are accurate.I love the look and feel of hogback style in 300 wm,375 is a dream to shoot ,and love the 6 rd mag capacity.I also like new model 70.I would stay away from 30 tc,buddy of mine took his to africa, wouldnt penetrate the hide on whatever he was shooting,so ph loaned him mauser 30-06 to get the job done.

Ardent plz tell me that gun is available in 9.3x62!

Unfortunately it hasn't been made since the 90's, and is exceedingly rare, and naw no 9.3x62's were made. This .300 Win Mag can of course be a 9.3x62 if you find some of the Barnes 250gr Originals, as it will push them to 2,500fps. The SD of the 250gr .30 cal is even better than the 286gr 9.3. For the normal world, with easy to find bullets, 220gr at 2,800 fps is big medicine, more powerful than 9.3x62 as well. I'm a big 9.3x62 and .375 H&H fan, I have this same rifle's big brother as well in the RSM in .375 H&H, and have used it on around a dozen head of big game in three countries now right up to dangerous game. I view the .300 Win Mag as the equal of 9.3x62 when using the heavy end of its bullet range. The RSM, this rifle's heavier, larger big brother I've mentioned also came in .375 H&H of course before it too was discontinued, and .375 H&H is a significant improvement on 9.3x62 as you have the whole bullet range of 200gr to 380gr with a bit more power too. If you handload, as most 9.3x62 guys do, then the .375 H&H looks even better you can literally make 9.3x62 loads spot on by slowing down 300gr .375 loads a touch.

Here it is alongside its big brother, the .375 H&H RSM. Thanks Vimy, I like to think so, the Express was actually a nicer rifle than the RSM as well, much quicker handling and trimmer. The features on the rifle, like the integral sight rib meaning the barrel contour couldn't be lathe turned, would cost more than the whole Express rifle just to add to your order on a custom. It's too bad Ruger didn't just charge what they were worth instead of dropping it from production because they couldn't keep the price down.

Went to the local gunshop today, and they had a nice CZ550 American on sale. I probably would of bought it, if it was a .308 or 30/06, but it was a .243. Its very well built, but my only complain about it was the detachable magazine. The base plate seemed to be made of plastic, however everything else on the gun was all metal. Don't know why they would skimp out on one part with plastic. I also found the magazine quite fussy about going in. Probably needs to be broken it, before it goes in more freely, but on the one I was handling, the only way to get it to go in properly was to press the mag release while inserting the magazine. I prefer the type of magazine that can be popped in easily. However, I do prefer the convenience of a detachable magazine over a internal magazine. If I lived out West were there is some dangerous game, then I would prefer the fixed internal magazine model, but I live in Ontario, were the most dangerous game is a Black Bear at the dump up North. A detachable magazine comes in really handy when your driving down a logging road in your truck, or riding your atv on a trail, and you see a moose walking, so you can quickly pop, lock, and drop.

I have two CZ's, a 550 Magnum in 416 Rigby and a 452. Both are extremely accurate and well made. They are, to me, a classic wood and blued metal rifle. The wood is good but not great on both.

When I first got the 550 the action was a little stiff. I put some oil on it and worked while I watched a football game - stiffness went away.

My CZ's are all metal but I've heard that some of them have plastic magazine parts. IIRC the short actions; 308, 243, have the detachable mags.

I would not hesitate to buy another, excellent rifles.
