CZ550 Scope Mount Issue

Recently purchased a CZ550 Medium Lux and am happy with the overall quality. I was a bit surprised to find the magazine floor plate & follower are made of a plastic/polymer. I also purchased a CZ made 1 piece steel scope mount & rings expecting a factory fit.

I'm running into an interference issue. It seems as though there are different tolerances between the machined notch in the receiver and the lug on the scope mount. The scope mount's lug has sharp 90 degree corners while the receiver has machined radius'. This is causing fitment issues as seen in the photos. The mount is sitting at a bad angle and the mount will not clamp into the dovetails properly. I think some time filing the mounts lug can correct the issue, but not at all what I was expecting from a "premium" priced rifle and an expensive factory mount.

Anyone else have a similar experience? Thanks

This is the CZ mount I purchased from Tradex. (No complaints about Tradex, I've had nothing but good experiences with them over the years.) Its almost as if CZ or whoever makes them for CZ forgot to finish machining the lug.

It's hard to tell, but it's likely a defective mount. Did you get CZ rings with the rifle? It would be good test to see if they properly fit in the dovetails.

I do not have any other rings to check fitment. I don't believe there is any issues with the fitment into the dovetails. Im going to careful rework the shape of the lug on the scope mount by removing some material with a file. My only other option would be contacting Tradex and returning the mount.

I've had similar issues with several types of mounts for the ZKK rifles, including the CZ rings. There does seem to be some variability in the machining of the slot in the receiver, as a given mount will work on one rifle, but have problems with another. So yes, get Mr File out and file the mount - getting another wont necessarily solve the problem.
Finally, if your gun has the pop-up peep sight, it can also cause problems. If the peep sight is sitting slightly proud of the receiver it can cause the mount to sit askew slightly...

The CZ 550 Magnum takes the square lug like you have. You were sold the wrong ring set; you could probably modify it, but why bother?

Ahhhh... Dogleg is 100% correct. I thought something looked unusually off, that's why I suggested testing a pair of CZ rings to ensure it's the mount, not the dovetails.

Tradex does offer a "CZ Magnum" one piece mount, but this one is described as and labeled as for the "CZ550" Its very close to fitting as is, definitely not a drastic difference.

I spent some time tonight adding radius' to the lug with a file followed by fine grit paper and some cold blue. The mount now sits flat on top of the receiver and clamps into the dovetails properly. I will post some photos later.

Question: The rifle has what appears to be a small Griffin & the number "13" stamped on the right side of the receiver & barrel. Does the 13 indicate the rifle was manufactured in 2013?

That ring set appears like it is for the ZH break open Combination Rifle/Shotgun in 22 High Power or 7x57R over a 12 Gauge. You might have had the wrong mount there, but looks like you did a great job with your fix.
