CZ550 Stock Issues

Hey guys, has anyone had issues with CZ stocks on 30-06 rifles? I have a CZ550FS and it broke the first stock within 300 rounds, then the replacement went after less than 60. CZ is suggesting the second one failed due to improper fitting, but I am certain the stock was not too tight, and if it was too loose there's not much that can be done to remedy a poorly fitting stock (and I would have noticed play between the receiver and the stock). I can add pictures to the thread if people want to see. If they won't replace this second stock, I'm out at least $300. What gets me is that if it was a fitment issue, I don't imagine the stock would have failed as catastrophically and immediately as it did. It split at the forearm from the outside through and through to the inside, and the split is over 7 inches long. Thoughts?

Does it crack like this?

Well, I've heard this happens with 550 but never saw it myself. However, word has it that some cz 550 stocks are not properly made or wood it not as good as it should and will crack under 1000 rounds.

Once you get your new CZ wood stock do a glass bedding, aftermarket pillars and optionally crossbolts like CZ magnums or CZ 550 in 9.3x62

After that it should be just fine. Although I understand that this does not sound pleasant for you, sorry.

That's what I figured. I might just get a stock from a Canadian stockmaker instead, pending CZ's course of action. In for a penny, in for a pound basically. The end goal is just something the does the job that I don't have to worry about. Thanks for the input, good to have info on hand regarding this problem.

Does anyone know a good "how to do" book or video for this? Alternatively, can anyone tell me how much si this likely to cost if a gunsmith does it?

Thanks

I would suggest to seek a professional gunsmith advise. There are a lot of CZ 550 around, most of them are fine.

Having bolts and bedding, if done right, for sure will make your rifle better, however no one on a forum can tell you if its necessary or worth it in your particular case.
