Cz858 prices hilarious.

I'd buy one just for spare parts if the price is right. $500 is still a bit too much for me to just keep under my bed to collect dust when it goes prohibit.

These threads are funny.

Some owners trying to sell their CZ’s for preditory money.
Some buyers trying to buy them for preditory money.

It goes on and on..

I don't see the attraction. These rifles were somewhat appealing due to the fact that they were non-restricted. As prohibs, I would say that half of their value evaporates instantly. 90% of it gone if you can't take them to the range.

I agree. Yet people are still buying them on the EE for big asking prices.

Just a Non-Restricted going to a Prohib = Range Only gun (if lucky) makes it worth a lot less in my opinion. People are getting tricked by this Grandfather thing... I hope you guys aren't getting played by it, but my suspicions are that they'll just become safe surfers after a while.

listed one (2nd one) for $1200 sold in 20 mins, and there was another guy behind him; lots of them being sold right now.
Guys are actually looking for the ones that were previously moved to the Prohib catagory the first time.
Guys waiting for $500 rifles are going to left out in the cold.

Guys who'll have the almost worthless guns are the ones who keep them, then find out they cannot take them to the range anymore - down the road.

I let mine go for what I had in it, $775. For all the reasons I already posted in this thread previously.

Cheers
Jay

I still think i may keep mine so i have a decent part kit. The VZ is a failure for reliability. Would be nice to put in all CZ internals into a vz. Maybe it wont go in for warrenty as much.

If you already own one then $500 is all a CZ858 is actually worth. I’ll wait to get a second one as the prices plummet once it’s prohibited and some time passes. I debated selling mine but I happen to like both my Swiss and cz858 so I’ll be keeping them. If I decide to pick up more examples later on then it will be at the prohibited wall hanger price. Not the current buy one before you can’t price. Let’s also keep in mind that the cz 858 was a $700 gun before they stopped being imported. The prices the last few years have been ridiculous.

You need to pay the price to get into the CZ858 prohib catagory THEN when prohib and you have your 12(x) you can look for one for cheaper. Other wise your ####ed for getting 12(x). Guys know that and wont be giving up there CZ for cheap. My vz and cz have been used at the range only for the last 2 years so dosent affect me.

I cant wait to try to get ahold of one of the short barreled ones once prohibed.

I got screwed over with my AK etc when they went 12(5) and then took the ATT (SAP) away. I won't give up my CZ858. I will just get screwed over again, in the false belief that ONE DAY, some Conservative government will let me take my 12(5) to the range again.

BTW I only paid $500 for my CZ858 in 2006. I thought about selling it. But.....I can't.

Every time this happens people who don't own something that is
getting prohibited laugh at the person who is getting screwed by the
government because they do.
Divide and conquer is still alive and well in Canada!! Everyone would
like to be able to buy what ever they want, machine guns to shotguns.
But, because of the lack of support from the firearms community, YOU
CAN'T! This lack of support has had its effect since 1978, in limiting
what people can purchase and can continue to purchase.
YOU are not SAFE, look around you, when your turn comes, who is
going to support you!

Having to apply for an att each time you want to take it to the range doesn't effect you? Prohibited storage regulations doesn't effect you?

Reading the bill its sounds like it will have its own transport regulations. Im hoping for the restricted style ATT. We shall have to see. Either way, more options with what you can do with the CZ.

Mine may become a VZ hybrid.

Yes, statt only, there is no provisions for a ltatt for any prohibited rifles and is not covered by the std LTATT attached to every restricted PAL.

On top of that, it is unlikely the provincial CFO will grant a statt for shooting any prohibited rifle as my conversation with the BC CFO yesterday. Ranges currently not certified for prohibited rifles (most of them) will also have to apply to the CFO for approval, another topic that was danced around yesterday that gives me the feeling it will never happen. Or guidelines they will force the range to meet will be made too costly for anyone to bother

This is all a scheme to not pay compensation and have them turned in for free when the current owners pass on or lose their license. Those who think they will be able to treat them like their current restricteds and pass them on to their children are sorely mistaken
