Cz858 prices to take a dive once type81's here.

Considering the majority of my CSA rifles have been junk (I'm not talking about CZ quality) if the Type 81 is a hair better then those, it will be far better

The 858's that were briefly banned are about the best most reliable x39 available. They are the most true to form of all the CZ variants. The type 81, we'll see

On what planet is an AK47 better than a CZ858? Just because we can't get them here doesn't make them better than what we've got.

The Romanian AK47 I shot in Michigan was fun as hell, dude that worked there said zero failures and zero cleanings. Here's my buddy holding it, think this was 2010. Took forever to load the magazines compared to here. I don't know which would be better but it would be nice to have the choice.

Could have shot a FA MP5 but it was expensive, $50 rental + range time + ammo, US funds.

"Zero failures, and Zero cleaning" and probably zero need to change the target, because of zero hits! Just kidding, but AK's have never been known for being super accurate. Although we again come to the fact that there have been huge amounts produced by numerous factories in numerous countries.

The Romanian is, I believe, one of the better produced. These were the "Tantal" were they not? There are also numerous companies in the US that are producing AK's, either complete or off of imported receivers, to meet their legal requirements. I have seen some of the US production, and they are a quality product made to American specs/standards.

I may even look at a Type 81 down the road, but I'll wait and see the reviews on it first. Paying 1K for something with SKS accuracy, just cause it kinda looks like an AK is not something I'm willing to do. We'll wait and see when they get here

The AK doesn't need a shell deflector to be installed/magivered in order to have a scope mounted.... That's a big plus I'd give to the AK..... The rest is speculation, for I have never owned or shot an AK. Or it's variant s :(

I think most of the v58/cz858s you see on EE are people hopeing to up sell a gun they payed less for, and some are probably trying to get it out of their safe in the presumption that the RCMP will once again classify them as prohib.

Type 81's should drop in price when Turdeau tries to ban everything and dealers get scared they are going to be stuck with a lot of scrap metal from China.

The Type 81 is such a superior rifle that the PLA dumped it from mainline service in less than two decades in favour of the Type 97. I have shirts that have served me longer than the Type 81 did the Chinese.

Enjoy your tricked up SKS, OP.

The type 81 was a stop gap design meant to be replaced sooner than it actually was. For a design not meant to last, taking 2 decades to do so and still using it in second line service says something.

I've shot a lot of AKs and would take a good one hands down over a Vz58.

As for the Type 81, who knows if it'll be any good?

However if it is it, it seems to have a major leg up just off the fact that it has normal AK style furniture, and not the dinky little pistol grip and forend and awkward buttstocks of the surplus style Vz58.

It's a steep hill to climb arguing that a carbine few have handled is superior to carbine that is here tested and despite some issues (Gremlin), has been found reliable and with plentiful parts.... With only 1000 coming in, how does that number stack up against the number of CZ/CSA carbines already here? Seems like a justification for buyers remorse thread.

I think it boils down to an NR 7.62x39 pissing match meaning the SKS is likely the most reliable and simple but the 858/58s are far superior (to my mind) and now there is a new 1K carbine on the horizon it's time for keyboard wrangling.

People who flame about the AK not being good or as good as a 858 are slightly handicapped as the Ak has been a reliable service rifles for more armys then the cz has been for individuals. For those who say Czech over Chinese must not own a iPhone, computer or any electronics for that matter. Never seen a Czech cell phone or even VCR lol. The Type 97 sold to anyone other then the PRC army is not the same as a army t97, in the same respect that the Russians don't sell equal made products to anyone else, their optics to rifles are produced with different metals and even parts then the civilian models or even models sold to other armys. The type 81 was designed as a superior replacement to the AK and while yes it was replaced fairly quickly it was still used in modern era by a strong military not the Slovaks who isn't even comparable to Turkey let alone China. We will soon see which rifle is better and if it is the Type 81 then only $6-700 858's will be the ones with possibilities to sell, and those that think otherwise will be stuck with it forever with no possibility to sell.

lol !!

If this is red rifle mods will move it. The Type 81 will be superior, it better be as it was designed 2 decades after the cz and was designed as a upgrade/replacement for the Ak, which is also a more reliable rifle then the cz/vz. The gas system on the cz is nice but not much shares reliability with a ak and if the t81 is anywhere close to a ak the cz's will have to suffer as I know no one who will buy one.

An AK variant's barrel might stand up to extreme heat longer but the Cz/Vz rifles are of greater fire power in full auto. A couple hundred rpm faster, if I'm not mistaken. I'd take the word of the guy who has owned both though.

I dont recall any rifle newly being sold anywhere in Canada adversely affecting the price of another. The CZ858 is battle proven and the versions we have are very capable and reliable rifles. There is a extensive aftermarket here for them as well.

The Type 81 is untested and unsuppoted by anyone here. One would have to be naive to think the 81 would do anything to the value of a 858 or 58.

Seriously though, quit smoking crack before posting to. Stop with the adoption rates stuff. Adoption rates of any rifle doesn't correlate to quality. Trying to tell us that since China has the largest army therfore there stuff is better then another countries is completely asinine.

Hmmmm I guess rice is the best food to cause lots of people from Indo China eat it to.
