Cz958 Review, Accuracy, and Status

I"m sure the rationale is ....if they release the info, then everyone will know how to do it, so it must be kept buried and secret.

No how to do it on these ones. They didn't fall under 'easily converted to full auto' as some other firearms have in the past. The 858's troubles all revolve around just how CZ was procuring the receivers before welding in a big hunk of steel to prevent the automatic parts from ever being put back in. Under Canadian law that's OK so long as the receivers were never previously assembled into full autos. According to CZ, they used receivers out of the parts bin from contract over runs. The RCMP claim that somewhere along the line they started pulling apart extra automatic rifles that were sitting in their warehouse, which is the reason why the first batch of imports remain non-restricted (with the 19" barrel anyway).

Thank you Wolverine for bringing the 958 to the Calgary Gun show and letting me have a look it...... Very Nice !!!

I am not a big fan of the rifle or the accuracy , however , I will buy one just to encourage a local industry and effort . I think it is commendable that Wolverine , who has provided us incredible items over the years is developing something like this .

Great job Wolverine .

+1

Being in the prohib club I've been itching to buy another CZ just to have some peace of mind, but I've been holding off my purchase just for this. $ is in hand... for the rifle + new furniture!

I've got a scope and rings on the bench waiting too

Excellent point, but there is a back up rear sight, a small fixed notch at the front of the reciever, not adjustable, but I requested that it has a 100 meter zero. On this pre - production example I felt the notch was to small but lots of time to correct that.

I am surprized at the accuracy, I did expect better. Will change out the butt stock for one that provides a good cheek wield, mount a scope and check her ourselves ASAP. I just need the sun to shine. :)

Have you had a chance to take her for a spin again? How did she do accuracy wise?

CZ 958 using Hornady 123gr SST bullets at 100 yards. I changed the stock to a Fab Defence with the recoil reducing buffer tube, I didn't like it much and personally feel that a better stock could be used to improve accuracy a bit more again. The scope was a Vortex Viper 6-24x50 with the A.R.M.S quick throw leaver mounts and rings.

So a 2.5 inch group scoped not excellent but that's about what I expect from a rifle like this but I did hope for better especially with a 6-24 scope
