DAC 394 (Sig 228 Clone) Kit

I finally filed down the ridges in the mag well. Used a Canadian tire rotary tool with a cable extension flex shaft. Found the dremel flex shaft was too wide to fit in the mag well. This one worked perfect and I got lucky as it was on sale with the rotary tool for $30.00. Filed down all four ridges in about an hour with little effort. Took so long because I took my time to make sure I didn't file down too much.

Now I just have to find time to strip off the finish, refinish it and put the thing together.

I think this may be like childbirth for women. The brain forgets the agony of giving birth to the first child, and somehow makes you want to do it all again a couple of years later.......
 
Didn't get an easy one ha ha . Anyone know if its better to radius the hammer or take a little off the hammer stop? I guess I should just measure and see what's out of spec :)

I just searched the thread for "hammer". There's 96 posts regarding this issue so I'm sure there has to be some help for you in there somewhere. :D

The magazines fit a sig 228 as well...

You can get parts out of the USA as they're not a firearm until you finish them then you have to register it and that's about it. Once you finish the frame it's a firearm.

In all fairness I've read this thread twice ...however my memory is sh@t so half way through the 96 I found what I was looking for ! Thanks turf! I forgot about the specific thread search. If anyones reading this, it is coming along beautifully ! Saving all the polishing for the end , just worrying about all the fitting . So far about 4 hours in the build and 4 hours in the research , probably 1/2-3/4's done the fitting the frame ( slide's done minus lube and finish).
 
I can tell by your post that your are enjoying the adventure. That's great.
My completed DAC was sold to an individual who was an avid collector of the SIG 228 and wanted one from every different manufacturer. I provided him full disclosure and had given him this thread so he could see all of my posts regarding my kit build. He was ecstatic to add my kit to his collection of "SIG 228s". I sold it to him for exactly the same price I paid for my kit when it I bought it new. It was a total win-win situation. I learned an large amount of gunsmithing and he got a "rare" SIG 228. :)
 
This thread has been one of my all time favorites. Unfortunately I missed out on the original buy from Dlask but did put up a couple of want to buy ads which went unanswered at the time. I did see one on the EE a couple of months ago but, again, too late. :(

Have fun Hoplight and I wish I had a kit to share the experience with you.
