Dangerous game short range match. The challenge is on!

Well i had a few mins today to play. I took some hot loaded homemade 7/8oz slugs and my favorite side by side They going about 1800fps.
4 shots at 25 yards yeilded a 4.7" center to center group in 2.9 seconds. Its an extractor gun. The timer was set when at the ready. Beep and shouldered and fired opened dumped the empties and reloaded and fired again. I practised several times with trap load first
When i get the time ill take my sxs 4570 and 458 wm
 
Are there enough Gunnutz in S. W .Ont.with big bore rifles in Afiican calibers to have get togather and informal target shoot.Is there any interest in such an event....hessels
 
Id be down for it if it werent to far of a drive. Im on paturnity leave and in the middle of home renos so im killing my bank account trying to finish the projects i currently have on the go now
 
This reminds me of a rather contested topic, whether or not scopes have a place on close quarter hunting rifles...I say nay.
I just watched that video of Simba running through the middle of the 4 men with rifles.
I'm still going with a strong 'No' to scopes on dangerous game rifles. Easy to brag about one's 'Cool Head under pressure' but watching Ole Simba cover ground as fast as he did... one has to wonder how many of us would do a 'Francis Macomber'?
I myself don't have a real urge to hunt dangerous Game, I live vicariously day-to-day already.
I admire a fellow who can remain unflustered in the face of an Apex predator at max speed...just don't want to do it myself.

So, not wanting to read 26 pages...have we agreed on distance and bore/caliber?

If we go with bore I will do this with my .450 Marlin instead of my .458 WM. If we say . 375, I will use my Winchesterand not H&H....

But I’m in....I will see you and raise.

I'll give this a go. Heaviest hitter I have besides a single shot 45-70 is a .35 whelen improved. It pushes a 250 gr psp around 2740 fps with case full of RL15. In a old Win 70. Looking for ward to it.
