Daniel Defence Mk18 owners, info please!

Very nice rifle. Have run about 4500rds through mine, both on the range and in courses. Zero stoppages to date. Norc ammo is extremely dirty in the rifle. Can pull off standing offhand shots on 12"x8" steel at 200m. Changed the MOE stock to a CTR and put a magpul Miad on it.

Well I can tell you right from the start that the smallest 10.5" gas port you'll find in Canada is an LMT. They use the CRANE's spec of .071".

That's why I'm curious. I've read that DDs were 0.083" and then dropped down to 0.075" and that colt uses up to .091" or so.

I bought my MK18 about a month ago and I love it. The only issue I'm having right now is that I bought some Gen 2 PMags with it and they do NOT want to fit very well into the mag well. I noticed the rivet to pin the mag to 5 rounds was rubbing (read: scraping) against the trigger side of the mag well. Anyone else have this issue? I seem to be the only one that I've seen so far :/

Just want to compile info on different gas port sizes on 10.5" ARs. Some don't like to run with cheap ammo.

As already mentioned LMT uses .071 . Runs 5.56 pressure ammo fine . I have had cycling issues with 223 loadings

I have measured a few Noveske , WOA 10.5's and they all hover about .077 to .080

If that's happening someone did a poor job of riveting. File the rivet down or better yet...remove and put in a nice countersunk rivet so this issue doesn't occur.

No its not a Civvie version of any JSOC gun. Daniel Defence makes the Rail for the issue rifle thats it. The rifle used by JSOC is a Colt. There has been a plethora of hype about DD MK18, but in actuality DD is just an accessory vendor, not a firearm vendor to the special forces community. Mall ninjas desperate to look "tactical" bought the marketing campaign, hook, line and sinker. I'm sure its a good rifle, but it's not "what they use".

the mods I made to mk18 where kac ambi-safety, kac ambi mag release, and kac 2 stage trigger... and an umbrella corp pistol grip. other then that it is stock and has run over 3000 rounds with zero failures.

I have to disagree, I believe the DD Mk18 is in fact a civilian version of the JSOC weapon. I do agree that the Mk18s Mod0 and Mod1 are both manufactured by Colt in various versions of lineage (the original version was actually a modified XM177E2 with a cut down carrying handle and/or a picatinny rail mated to the top of the receiver and barrel with a A2 Flash suppressor replacing the big crazy one originally fitted to allow for QD Suppressor use if what I was told is to be beleived). However the Mk18 as spec'd out by DD is a faithful copy of the Mk18 Mod1 with the deletion of select fire and SOPMOD Stock. Add the automatic option and it would meet all the requirements of the tender. The big thing is the DD prefix, which allows them to distinguish between the DoD Contract and the civilian offering.

I am hardly a "Mall Ninja". I bought the DD Kk18 Mod1 because I remembered the Mk18 as a good platform and a handy little musket and it was the closest affordable approximation available to me at the time.

There has been some credible evidence that DD M4's and CQBR uppers have been purchased by the US Gov for JSOC. I have yet to see any in the wild, but then again, its pretty hard to distinguish what barrel is in use on those CQBR's. Both have certainly been purchased by other gov agencies.
