Daniel Defense M4 V5 wear and tear at 150 rounds

The only reason DD gets so much praise is because of their torture test video. I feel sorry for any of you who bought these when the other 6 AR brands selling for 500 dollars less are smoother and better quality.
Tell us which one sold @ $1040 is better then my V3, please. I would like to know. I watched that video, but IMO, any PROPERLY MADE AR should survive that Test including Norinco (but excluding some, of course).

Hmm... maybe there's something wrong with the sights too.... I might have to take them off your hands... as it happens I seem to be in the market for the DD A1.5 sights

Disconnectors are stamped from sheet metal by a process known as "fine blanking," which will sometimes leave a rough edge. The pictures look normal to me.

Cast hammers and triggers are perfectly normal. Colt OEM parts are cast, as are the Geissele aftermarket trigger assemblies.

I would also like to know where I can get a better AR than a Daniel Defense for $500 less and how it is better.

. . . now I have to think of what I can skimp on/do for my wife so I can try and take advantage of this deal. Care to share how limited this offer will be time wise? :D

do whatever you can to scoop it up - these are the new rail design rifles and in my opinion are much better than the old ones! you won't regret the $$$

I have to wonder about Daniel Defense AR15s. They seem very average from what I've seen. The only thing spectacular about them is their marketing group.

I will admit, I have been thinking this myself lately, what exactly makes them special. Or maybe that's just it, they are the perfect middleground...

Just to confirm is it marked for 5.56 or .223? Different sites say it's stamped differently. Yes I understand .223 is ok in a 5.56 but not quite so the other way around, so just want to know what it's stamped. Thx

I would have to agree... in particular the disconnector looks brand new…

I was concerned because it is completely at odds with the otherwise well finished parts. Everything else is smooth but the disconnector is the one part to have visible marking, it seemed suspicious.

Celtic1123: I got this one from Wolverine Supplies, they are marked. 223 but have 5.56 chambers and barrels, as well as removable flash hiders. I think the current batches being brought in are marked 5.56 due to the recently relaxed import/export restrictions. I got mine right after the policy switched so mine has the old markings.

The ones we import are marked 5.56

I am sure the most of us have been there before… I know I have…

I am pretty sure the disconnector is stamped from a sheet, the marks are from the stamping, no point in making it pretty as it is hidden all the way down in there... looks just like others I have seen, no funny marks ;)

All the contact areas will wear in, and most of them will start to show shiny metal in some spots… wait till that cam pin sees a few thousand rounds, it will look… abused… for lack of a better word…

The disconnector is stamped - not MIM'd - whoever told you that is wrong
The hammer and trigger have been investment cast on all Milspec AR style rifles for a very long time

All the finish wear appears fine for 150 rds- make sure you keep the weapon well lubed as a DI gun likes to run wet

Best bet is go shoot your weapon and learn how to use it and spend less time talking to people on the Internet who have no idea want they are talking about- always remember they outnumber knowledgeable people by 1000 to 1

Just like Zombies; and just as helpful too
