Have not posted here on CGN for a bit so I'm long overdue and since its a slow time in Jan I thought I would throw up a few pictures. If you are a member on Huntingbc you have seen them already.

Christmas of 2012. My daughter Morgan got her first rifle. Just a little savage axis youth model in 7mm-08. We spent months at the range practising as she had only shot the .22LR since the age of 10. And with the help of Steeleco we worked up a reduced recoil load as she is pretty tiny and stock ammo kicked a bit too much for her.

Sept we go on an annual camping trip with over a dozen friends and we decided we would see if we could get her a deer at the same time. Sept 1st was the start of youth season and an elderly ranch couple had given Steeleco and I the go ahead to let our daughters take deer off their alfalfa field.

Sept 1st We hunted the morning up a mountain where Steeleco's son a got himself a nice mulie. There was another buck there but we couldnt set up fast enough to get her a shot so we came back to camp for lunch empty handed.

For the evening we talked to the ranchers and set up on their field. As we walked on to the field a nice 4pt buck jumped out of his bed and took off. I guess they do like alfalfa. lol

We didnt wait long before another buck came onto the field but we were not in the greatest position. So we crawled to 200yrds of him. My daughter used my pack as a nice rest and now he is in the freezer with a shoulder mount on the way of her first deer. A 4x2 mulie still in velvet

The smile says all you need to know. So if anyone ever says you hunt like an 11yr old girl thats not necessarily a bad thing. :D

A special thanks to Steeleco and his family as they gave us a hand putting him in the truck and his daughter had every opportunity to shoot this buck as she was in a great position looking at the field, but she held off her itchy trigger finger so my daughter could get her first animal. Steeleco's daughter was rewarded with a great buck of her own the next day.

Since I was now tagged out in region 3 here in BC I had to make a little weekend visit to region 8 where I busted my ass hiking and finally nailed this guy in his bed at 50yrds

A very big congrats to both of you. Really love the first photo of your daughter holding her deer...........proud and content.

Way to go Dad! What a great bonding experience for both of you. She'll remember that for life.... All us Dads with daughters need to get them into shooting or hunting. I can't think of a better way to bring up our girls!

Congrats to the young lady on a nice first deer. Congrats to dad for getting your daughter out and started on something you can both enjoy for years to come.

Ok, i'll ask the question that's on everyone's mind. What camo pattern are her boots and where can I get a pair?

...I think they have those "Camo" boots at Canadian Tire...

...and by the way if that is what you get when you hunt like an 11yr old girl... I want to hunt like an 11 yr old girl...;)

Congrats to you both!, thats quite an impressive 200 yard shot for her first deer. A lot of guys here would not be able to do that.

Thanks guys......was an incredible experience for us both. I had more fun watching her hunt than I have hunting myself. Shot was a little further than I wanted for her but a range finder and a good rest helped us. We were so exposed in the open I didnt think we could get any closer without him heading for the hills

When my daughter shot her first deer, I told her to look up and say thanks.
Why pa?
Because it was a gift from heaven.
I think my dad had something to do with it.
Way too much time was involved and no right minded fur would
of stood around that long.
Bless his soul.............both.

Adorable little girl! That smile is priceless... I brought up my two daughters and son in the outdoors, canoeing, camping, fishing and hunting, I can promise you that it pays huge dividends down the road... My kids are older now and some in other cities, but they all tell me they have the fondest memories of those times... And they can't wait to get home for our outings. Good job!

Congratulations to the both of you and good work getting the next generation of hunters out there. Trust me fellows, get the girls out hunting and the boys will follow.
