Nobody is saying missing is fun, I didn't miss. If you were stood there you would be dead. I'm saying you can shoot and learn on your own without going to the lengths that you think people should go to. Lessons are great, but not everybody wants to be the best in the world, they are happy with average and average can be quite fun. Its up to what the individual is satisfied with. If everybody was like you think they should be, then everybody would be an Olympic athlete, but they are not. Some simply lose interest. That's why its called a hobby, not a career or life goal. Not everybody is a Vickers or Leatham, etc... Or Jerry for that matter. Some people like to learn on their own, maybe by asking others on this forum, or youtube etc... Not everybody wants to spend money on lessons when their only intention is to become a little more accurate, not become the next Leatham etc..
I never said we should all be striving to be the next top shooter. What I'm saying is that we all want to improve, we want to be good, decent, etc etc. Well from what I see here and at the range, people flat out suck and yet they still refuse to seek help. They run to the forum and ask for which sight/barrel/load/grip etc is the "best". The problem isn't the gun, its the shooter. Either wrong tool for the job, or simply no skills.
It doesn't mean they are stupid or unmotivated, it just means its not worth it to them to improve that much more and they are happy where they are. As most gun owners have plenty other interests. Sounds like your life only revolves around one, which is why your so close minded and rude to people on here. You should have been slapped down a long time ago for the way you talk to newbies etc...
How do you value improvements if you don't have a goal in mind? If you goal is to hit the paper and not get hurt, then carry on. Lets cut the BS, everyone wants to get better. I agree that some aren't driven to do so and don't mind taking their time improving, and that's ok. But everyone wants to get better. Spraying a 14" "group" at 5 yards month in and month out is not fun and shows no improvement nor an understanding of the fundamentals. Its simply frustrating.
I focus my efforts on the shooting discipline, you're right. I see it as a valuable skill not just a hobby.
Like many you feel I'm rude, its called being honest. I'm not going to stroke someones ego or save their feelings by telling them they're doing well or their choice in equipment is great. If you suck or your gear sucks, I'll tell you, and I'll tell you why. I value honesty over manners. What many call manners are nothing guidelines on how to politely trash talk people. Just tell it like it is, grow some thicker skin and support your position when you make a statement.
While I agree some of what you say to be true about training, you need to start taking lessons in tack and manners, learn those fundamentals.
And if golf is for arrogant people, you will fit right in
As well, all you are on here is talk, you have never posted a target showing your skills, did an instructional video or anything. You just get off on preaching about fundamentals and lessons with out offering anything. Maybe you suck and don't want others to see, Bollox asked you to a competition a few posts back. Take him up on it.
Reread my posts. I don't shoot groups and I don't post my efforts. I don't seek nor need the approval and mental masturbation of others to validate that I can shoot. I have the certificates and the trophies to prove I can shoot and win, do you??
Ill wait for your regular response that you have nothing to prove to a bunch of folks on the internet, your right you don't, but why flap your gums so much about how good you are and never prove it?
Oh I know I'm good, and I can articulate what it takes to shoot accurately on demand. You and others cannot. Many here pretend to know how to shoot then go on to talk about polishing internals, changing sights, slip on grips, etc etc. All of which is useless garbage. The short answer is simple. If you've never taken a training course, you simply have no idea what you're talking about. The posted performance and silly discussions about aftermarket junk prove my point.
When I manage some time for the range I will try and remember to take pics for you..
