The F Class attendance was down this year ,but I can attest that for everyone who showed up,they enjoyed a full week of doing what shooters generally like to do,SHOOT.
From early warm up matches on the first weekend, the Grand Agg matches that run from
Sunday to Friday and the final weekend series of special matches, one had the chance to shoot as much as they wanted.
Weather was overall very good and only got wet once or twice.Winds and conditions varied from light twitchy to full on 35mph gusts in a torrential downpour.
Barracks were better than some of the cheap hotels I've stayed in and the mess was excellent as usual.
The Target marking was very good with the occasional hiccup and most markers doing
a superior job.
Small glitches (as to be expected from time to time) were generally ironed out very quickly.
Met a lot of new friends, got together with old friends and can now put faces to some I've only talked to via email and phone.Great to see new faces join us this year and missed some of the old regulars.
DCRA was very accommodating squadding all Fers on same relays ,2 to a target.
We shot on DCRA Modified F targets which are very similar to the ICFRA.
F Class Team Canada building process is well under way with practices and was glad to meet "The Two Bills" (Watts and Flintoff)
I'm pleased to again ,have made it through the week standing (for the most part) and can continue to promote The CFRC as a great experience for those that can make it.
There are items being discussed to make this even more F Class friendly ,but regardless of what is done, I'm afraid we will still hear the same gripes about "too long, too far,too expensive".I can only respond by saying that you have almost a full year from today to save, fundraise, book time off, practice ,arrange transportation, practice, work with getting
family approval, practice and look forward to a great experience.
With DCRA providing "match fee" funds towards the CFRC for the Eastern and Western Regionals, perhaps some local PRA fund raising be done to assist their members to attend.
For those that wanted to attend and couldn't ,I would hope you would try for next. For those that could and didn't,I think you missed out on a great week.
My sincerest congratulations to all who attended and especially to all the winners in TR,FTR ,FO and BP(Black powder) .
And special mention to Leo who has now set the record of 4 Gov General wins as well as winning the Grand Agg. Not too shabby for a fellow on the other side of 80!
Just my two cents worth of a report.
