De prohibit the FAL Campaign! (template letter added)

If the FAL gets de-prohib, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility to see companies like Dlask making their own versions of the rifle. The Canadian FAL could rise again...

To bad you won't be able to get a Canadian one, you can make one look like an FNC1

Well, if it was non-restricted or restricted including all variants, you could, however its finding one and the cost when you find one. That being said, I have a fund for that. :D

i take it you didn't serve with one- well, they ALL can be converted in SECONDS to full auto WITH BITS FROM YOUR RAT-PACK - a matchstick, piece of tin can, or just about anything with the right dimensions stuck in the proper place will accompish this feat- and typically your w/o or senior nco KNOWS where to put it- he then passes this 'KNOWLEDGE" ON TO LOWER ranks- by the end of basic , everyone including the office clreks knew how

Last time I checked converting to full auto was a criminal offense.. and hopefully that will change with time too.. but charge the intent, not the posession.. Just because someone COULD make a FAL full auto does not mean they WILL.

i want the fal as much as the next guy but im not writing an essay on it should just write a letter and get everyone to put there name on it or some generic letter

that didn't stop the government from making me put that big washer on my uzi- so i can't remove the trigger group for oiling or whatever- even though there is NO POSSIBILITY OF F/A FIRE WITHOUT CHANGING THE CHANGE LEVER- IT'S MECHANICALLY BLOCKED- but the rcmp lab says as long as they interpet that there's a POTENTIAL for full auto fire, that's the same as capability- and that includes CHANGING THE ENTIRE TRIGGER GROUP - and the stupid courts have now backed that up- in other words, when it comes to full auto fire capability, we're GUILTY UNTIL PROVEN INNOCENT, AND ONLY AFTER ALL APPEALS BY THE CROWN HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED

The FNs I carried in the 1980's were already converted autos...

I suppose ammo was to expensive to have us lowly soldiers be given rifles with fully functional happy switches...

Here's where a bunch of politicians run to the RCMP with evidence that the M14 is similar to the FAL in basic description and they turn around and prohibit M14's instead of de-prohibiting FALs.

Although I'm totally behind this. Not a lot of interest in "service rifles" from me in general, but the possibility of a FAL would change my mind right quick.

the m14 is ALREADY prohibited- the reason the norcs et al are allowed is b/c they're supposedly copies of the m1a springfield , manufactured without the lug - that's the difference

OK OK lets keep this on track.

Just a note, try to avoid comparing the FAL with other firearms in your letters, make them simple, to the point letters stating the FAL's historical significance.

I shot the C1A1 weekly, 30 years ago, wish I could own a fully functioning one today but I can't. A rifle built as semi only without chance of conversion being prohibited by name only such as a Barrett, is ridiculous.

I am all for reinstating any firearm to the restricted or non-restricted list but then I would also love to climb everest, fat chance of either happening but a petition for the FAL I can do, everest??? Well lets just say I'm too old and too short for my weight for everest so that will just remain a dream, but I promise you one thing... I WILL CLIMB EVEREST 21 DAYS AFTER I RECEIVE MY 12(6) OR 90 DAYS AFTER I GET A CCW PERMIT.

Im currently working on one as we speak .

Quick question , are you allowed to send letters to MPs that arent in your riding , my MP is peter milliken and he is apparently a FAR left liberalist. so fat chance of him even reading my letter.

Even if a Canadian company doesn't make a version of the rifle, there is always DSA in the US they make all sorts of versions and semi-auto only to boot.

No only in the coverted autos is this an issue. There are models that were built semi auto only that cannot be converted to full auto.

Cheers, McLean

Actually it may be easier to convert a semi only than a previously select fire version of the FN to full auto. I moved to Saskatchewan in September of 92 and registered my FAL there. They took great interest in that small detatchement and I was required to describe the conversion that my rifle had been given for the Queen's cowboys. From the armorers book I determined that the safety sear (full auto sear) had been removed and the slot in which it resides welded up. Having looked at inch patern FN's it seemed to me that the same slot exists so if I'm not mistaken only the parts are required to perform the conversion. In my case it would be very difficult to restore the opening. Really though given the tools and talent ( and desire) what can't be done by a competent machinist.

What Irks me is I have a previously full auto rifle in my safe that is functional and because I've been told I can"t shoot it and I'm not able to drill the pop rivets out of my magazines the people of Canada can feel Alan Rock made babies safe.

I'd love to see this stupid legislation withdrawn but it seems unlikely so I will just keep it oiled in a climate controlled box remembering when it was the biggest handgun in my collection.
