*UPDATE* I hadn't made myself clear enough in my original post regarding the rifle. I was looking for a Savage Axis II and found one on the EE. The seller never replied and in the interim, I found a good fellow gunnut selling a Mossberg Patriot for a very fair price, so I purchased that instead. It just arrived today and I'm quite content, depending on how well it performs of course. There doesn't seem to be as many voids in the Mossberg as in the Savage. Therefore, the plan is to cut a piece of copper pipe as a centre line filler in the butt, use a combination of lead shot and high density spray foam as a filler, and not to worry about the fore end of the stock. It seems comfortably rigid and I really want the weight in the butt to offset the muzzle heavy feel and to eat some of the recoil. The copper will add a little weight and the hollow tube will allow me to add or subtract weight to adjust it to my satisfaction as well as being an emergency storage in case of a zombie apocalypse. Does anyone know if Mossberg provides after-market metal mags for this rifle? In a perfect world, I'd be able to buy a metal mag and mag well component. Barring that, I'd at least like to have a spare mag.
