Deactivating a receiver only

The AR-15s are in a weird illegal limbo of the registrar's making, aye. The judge in front of me was fine with that though.

In the end, that is what is at stake. As stupid and ill thought out as the Gun Laws are, as long as the Judges ignore what the Laws say, in favor of what they understand the Laws to be meant to mean, anyone who ends up in front of the wrong one, will be fooked!

The import thing is that now that the judges have pinned them down to that position, they can not easily change their position.

If it werent for the judge confirming the legality of the nullification and exllicitly declaring the firearms unregistered, the registrar may have unnullified them at her convenience....

This is part of why the S74 effort was win-win regardless of how the courts ruled.... either way the registrar is pinned to the wall.

So I guess this is something I’ll have to dig into again. Previously, I was told by RCMP via email that I cannot deactivate a receiver, only a complete firearm, despite the fact that this is being offered to me as a legal option for my registered AR15 receivers.

I thought I remembered them saying they would pay for deactivation as well...

If you do not wish to return your firearm under the Program, alternative options are available to you before the amnesty period expires on October 30th, 2026:

Having the firearm deactivated at your own expense by a licensed business authorized to perform deactivations. Procedures for this option are available at: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-safety-canada/campaigns/firearms-buyback.html

Arranging with your local police to hand-in your firearm – there will be no compensation provided.

And the way they word this, it sounds like the hunting rifles over 10k Joules, expensive drillings and ####, will not be compensated as it's an assault style weapons ban right. Imagine the #### storm it would cause with the liberal public if the Fed's gave some rich guy $100k for 1 single shot hunting rifle lol.
Additional Information for the ASSAULT-STYLE FIREARMS COMPENSATION PROGRAM

Compensation will be determined primarily on a first come first served basis, based on the date your declaration is submitted and the availability of Program funds at that time. To increase your likelihood of receiving compensation, pending eligibility, you are encouraged to submit your declaration as early as possible. Submitting a declaration does not guarantee you will receive compensation.

The government has from day one said deactivation ON THEIR DIME is an option. So, what if everyone (or even a very large number) with an OIC banned firearm were to go for that option. There aren't even close to enough gunsmiths to do the work much less by the deadline of this September when the amnesty ends. Delicious.
this just means that you send your gun in and maybe get it back ... 10 years later.

Yes, but despite a receiver being considered a firearm, they are saying they will not deactivate a receiver.

I tried this and was unsuccessful. I even hired a licensed business to destroy my receiver at my cost and they were not going to allow that either

Not OIC firearm being destroyed/deactivated

What’s the reasoning? Destroy almost all the usable parts?

my take on it is your only option is to destroy your lower only and report it as destroyed.

after that you can dispose of the parts as you see fit. Carefully embedding it in clear epoxy for display would be fine, but don't 'manufacture' a firearm out of it.

The standards they lay out make it impossible to deactivate a partial firearm.

These clowns can fire up the swat truck give ten members overtime and drive to my house to pick up my bent out of shape lower receiver. They will pay out 100x in wages and logistics than they would ever pay me for the lower.

Make this expensive for them guys.
Bankrupt this government.
Bankrupt the country. Who cares at this point.
Let’s start fresh.

Which then makes me wonder how far does one need to go for it to be considered destroyed...

They might find in some of these instances, they still don't find what they're looking for. I am with you but I believe at no point should they be stealing your property. Doesn't sit well with me. Not sure why so many people are okay with being bullied by a bunch of rejects. I wasn't brought up in a perfect household but one thing I grew up knowing was I am not having my property stolen from me lol.

I’ll hold out as long as I possibly can, however, unless this gets scrapped my AR 15 receivers are registered and ultimately I don’t have much choice. But I’ll destroy them and keep them before I give them a goddamn thing.

Mine are registered too. I think if we all play a little game of our own, they're not going to be able to enforce it. The name of the confiscation program in itself is a lie. I believe we should be livid about what they're doing and going hard against them.

Trust me, I’ve been in this fight for a very long time. Volunteered with NFA, helped found CCFR. I’m not giving up without a fight.
