Well its December and almost Christmas. A few early December purchases have been posted in the November sticky!

Since no one has made a December Purchases sticky yet, I'll start this thread in case Santa hides a few milsurps under the tree for us deserving 'nutz...

Here's my early present to me::)

Refurbished Austrian M17 helmet with possible Finnish liner. (I'm going to check with a few Finn experts to be sure and try to date the liner)

SKSes are fine, reliable, little carbine and will be my zombie gun when the world goes to heck. My favourite feature is that you only need parts from the carbine to field strip it.

Cleaning up my SKS has also taught me alot of about corrosive ammo and how to care for it after shooting.

Nice 1951 too, I have your sister from 1953.

Let us know how your range shoot goes.

Used the box rail of my pick up and a pillow for a bench, shot a paced off 100 yards, averaged around 4-6" groups. Wasn't really trying for consistancy though,so I'm happy with that.

CYQ p38s are my favorite! I love the rough machining on the later ones, still ahving excelelnt quality control. Thanks for showing this piece of history!

My neighbour gave me this rifle, not sure what it is, but he said it's kind of an Einfeld...

Now this will be the perfect holiday project:

  • cut the funnel at the barrel end off
  • remove the top wood
  • install a real recoil pad
  • drill and install my new varmint scope
  • maybe, if time allows, i can paint the stock with truck bed liner

wouldn't that be cool?

Beautiful Jungle Polaris. Congrats
I'm not sure it shoud be a good idea to change your No 5 like that.
It's criminal to me to change all the natural beauty of this gun.
It's only an opinion
