With this ammo shortage and the vast supply of 308 cartridges still available I’m looking to pick up a 308 bolt action rifle. Not looking to break the bank as I also am going to be doing a long range build for a 300winmag.
However I am looking for something that is nice to shoot, accurate and reliable. No savage axis type stuff.

Im partial to 700’s, Bergara also makes a nice rifle, smooth action and accurate. Also is on a 700 footprint so tons of aftermarket support. Winchester featherweight, tikka has a nice action, but I don’t like my tikka stocks as much as the others I mentioned

Howa 1500 and Weatherby Vanguard are both basically clones of the older Sako rifles. Solid design, good Japanese workmanship and generally accurate and functional. They are a good value.

happy with my Ruger american predator, got it for 500$ off the EE! 0.6 MOA 3 shot groups at 100y on my first day with 180gr bullets (1:10 twist)

I'd be looking at a Tikka. "Nice to shoot" may involve a better recoil pad as its probably a 6.3-ish pound rifle.

I’m partial to the rem 700 but sometimes they take a bit of messing with to squeeze the most out of which I enjoy. I always recommend tikka when someone wants a gun that will be accurate out of the box with no messing with at the 1000$ and under price point.

Bighorn Origin action, Proof prefit or barrel spun up by gunsmith of your choice in your desired length and contour, KRG bravo chassis, trigger of choice...

Origin $1,383.50
IBI barrel prefit ~$900
Triggertech primary $210
MDT XRS $660

We are looking at $3200 plus tax.

Used
- Rem 700 SPS/BDL or Tikka T3/X

New
Tikka T3/X or a Vanguard S2

Really couldn’t go wrong with either of the three above.
