Decent budget hunting clothes

I have my share of camo clothes , just to blend in . But man think back to when there was no camo . Look at the hunting pictures of years ago that were colour photos , not much camo worn then . Seems like the fellas took game regardless .
I could understand when you want to be real close when bow hunting .

Apparently with deer anyway they have vision that picks up anything that’s out of norm .
Including some types of camo
I stand to be corrected
Well Fred Bear sure didn’t wear camo and I think he was pretty successful with a bow!! Like I said I don’t wear camo and I do alright not bow hunting though!!

This Fred Bear? Definitely no camo to see here! Lol

Camouflage is great. Not being easily seen is a massive advantage. It doesn't supersede all the other stuff you need to do to be effective though - scent/wind, knowledge of behavior, staying still when stuff is looking at you, etc etc, and guys like Fred knew his #### with respect to all that other stuff.

If you give a new hunter camo he doesn't magically become a good hunter, and a good hunter can usually get the job done without camo, but neither of those points mean camo isn't useful.

I remember seeing him with lots of plaid shirts, so I guess he did both, maybe transitioned from plaid to camo over the years?!?! Anyway doesn’t matter, I don’t use camo but I don’t care if people do.. I just find it funny when people wears it everyday in town.

The price of some of the Camo clothing all be it some have water resistant properties can be through the roof ! Sitka and the like
I think you really need to find the deals, like my BIL does for his favorite stuff, Kuui or something like that… they seems to be always a sale !

Until last Oct when they sadly filed for bankruptcy, Black Ovis was my go to for hunting clothing.

Their house line (black ovis) was quality stuff at affordable prices. Even more-so, if you watched them at discounted prices on Camo Fire (also now defunct).

The Granite Peak mid-weight pants rivalled the industry standard Kuiu Attacks (which I have) at a 1/3 the cost, their merino wool layers (in all weights) are highly durable and warmth rated accordingly to scale, same goes for the heavy & mid-weight merino socks I have of theirs.

I’ve yet to find comparable cost to functionality pieces of clothing, so looks like I’m going back to spending a fortune on either Kuiu or Stone Glacier stuff for my needs.
