Decisions, decisions...

I like your decision making process. When in doubt about which rifle to buy, just buy them all. Maybe I'll apply that logic myself.

Heh, it does cut down on the need for actual thought processes alright. :) Kinda tough on the bank account though.

Had a nice day with nothing pressing on the agenda, so went out back to sight in the SL8 and CX4. I'd made another couple of gongs, and also a wheeled target stand that could be easily moved back and forth. I spooled out the 100m tape measure, placed the gongs at 25, 50 and 100m and the stand at 100 and got to work...

And holy sheepdip, can the SL8 ever shoot!!! Reinforcing the bit of banging I'd done when I received it, using 55g PMC FMJ off the bipod I was maxing out at 2" @ 100m. The best group was actually centered on the bull, but as I used the same target for the CX4 they've been obscured by 9mm holes. Dialing in the scope was a little touchy as there are no clicks, but with a bit of luck I managed to get it perfect. I can hardly wait to try some different ammo off sandbags now, as it should only get better. :)

The CX4 didn't shoot quite as well, but until I get a scope on it I'm still not too worried about tight groups. The Fastfire is now dialed in for 50m, and the 3" groups in the pic are more than good enough for the casual plinking it's intended for.

Now if only that Tavor would hurry up and get here...

The Tavor showed up yesterday, and it is freaking kewl. And by kewl, I mean totally sweet. Only put 30 rounds through it at the gongs, as trying to shoot right-handed with a bad eye isn't something I would consider to be entertaining at all. I did put a few shots out lefty, but unless you're waaay back on the stock a (somewhat painful) lip or chin smacking will occur.

Spent most of today with the armorer's manual learning to dis/reassemble everything and convert it to left handed operation. Also set up a riser for mounting a scope, and will have to decide on something there...I have a Nikon 2-7x that would work with some high rings, or maybe an ACOG clone from 1337 tactical would be a nice fit for the Tavor in the short term.

Hopefully the LH bolts will arrive soon, and then some accuracy and ammo testing can get underway so everything will be set for varmint season. :)

Hmmm, might be time to get everything together for a family photo now that the acquisition stage is over.

Yea my SL8 runns the UMC stuff pretty good. Closer to 1" - 1.5" off the bipod but I'm sure once you get comfortable and the rifle is run in you will see better groups too. Lots of PE90 guys like to hate on the SL8 but it really is a fantastic rifle.

I did up some 80gr loads that run really nice, plus the 80gr is better for hunting.
