NO your 100% wrong we have a blind we built and have used for 15 years PUBLIC lake we DO NOT own it we get there early to make sure we get it, a few times we have been beaten and we have alternative blinds we use
the issue if you read the original post is that these guys are leaving their decoys set up when they are not there so far its been since Friday night they have NOT been back the decoys are drawing birds away and causing them to flare and go away the spread is set up poorly
Yep.
This is the big difference between deer and duck hunting, at least around here.
Guys generally respect another's deer spot on public land, because they know messing around there can hurt someone else's hunt.
But duck spots, I can hunt there Friday and someone else can still have a good shoot Saturday. It's good sportsmanship to clean up your decoys after you're done, so someone else can hunt a spot. If you don't own it, you shouldn't leave your decoys there, because it adversely affects other hunters with no benefit to you. If anything, it's also bad for your hunt, as it educates the birds. Especially if your decoy spread is bad to start with, because you're lining up goldeneyes weeks before they show up in the area, and setting geese like goldeneyes in long lines.
Like I said--had a problem with a local guy doing this, and claiming "Oh I hunt here almost every day." Uh huh. Then how come I live just around the corner and never hear you shooting "almost every day"? I hunted that spot, and other guys, consistently for years, never claiming it as our own--and as soon as this guy did, and started leaving his decoys there for weeks on end, the hunting dried up.
